The Thing: Remastered is Seemingly Shadow-Dropping on December 5

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for survival horror games, I can hardly contain my excitement as December 5th approaches! The accidental leak on Xbox Wire only served to heighten my anticipation for Nightdive Studios’ much-awaited remaster of “The Thing.

Earlier this year, Nightdive Studios unveiled the remastered version of “The Thing,” initially setting a 2024 release date. Despite no specific launch date being announced yet, Nightdive has consistently maintained that it will arrive this year. Interestingly, it appears that its launch might be closer than we think.

As a gaming enthusiast, I was thrilled to see that The Thing: Remastered, slated for release on December 5th, is one of the upcoming games highlighted on Xbox Wire. It’s interesting to note that this very same day, the game will also be showcased during the PC Gaming Show. This leads me to wonder if Microsoft might have accidentally revealed a possible sneak preview or “shadow-drop” for the game at the event.

Nightdive Studios has made numerous under-the-hood adjustments to The Thing: Remastered, boasting over 1,500 changes, an easier difficulty level, and enhanced visuals across art, lighting, character models, and beyond. Learn more about these updates here.

Whenever it’s released, “The Thing: Remastered” will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (PC).
