The Thursday Murder Club – FIRST LOOK PHOTO

Following the completion of filming for Richard Osman’s popular novel “The Thursday Murder Club,” we have some exclusive behind-the-scenes updates and sneak peeks at the series. If the movie turns out to be a hit (which seems likely), Osman has three more books in the series – “The Man Who Died Twice,” “The Bullet That Missed,” and “The Last Devil to Die” – lined up for potential film adaptations as well.

In a simplified and engaging manner, the narrative follows a quartet of senior citizens living in a retirement community, who pass their leisure time by playfully solving fictional murder mysteries. However, things take an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a genuine case, forcing them to put their detective skills to the test. Their mission: uncover the identity of the perpetrator among the potential suspects.

In this production, Pierce Brosnan assumes the role of former union activist Ron, while Helen Mirren takes on the character of ex-spy Elizabeth. Kingsley portrays Ibrahim, a former psychiatrist, and Celia Imrie plays Joyce, an ex-nurse who is also part of the group. The stellar cast is bolstered by the addition of Jonathan Pryce (from “The Two Popes”), Henry Lloyd-Hughes (“We Were the Lucky Ones,” “Killing Eve”), Naomi Ackie (“Blink Twice,” “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody”), and Daniel Mays (“Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget”). David Tennant (“Doctor Who”) and Tom Ellis (“Lucifer”) are also among the star-studded cast, along with Ingrid Oliver (“Doctor Who”), Sarah Niles (“Ted Lasso”), Paul Freeman (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), and Richard E. Grant.

Chris Columbus, known for movies like “Home Alone”, “Mrs. Doubtfire”, and the initial two “Harry Potter” films, took on the directorial role after he adapted the screenplay from the book when the rights were obtained by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment production company.

The film will arrive 28th August 2025 on Netflix.
