The Tombstone 4K Blu-ray Steelbook Is Definitely Your Huckleberry

If you share my appreciation for movies, Tombstone (the 1993 western featuring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer) likely ranks among your top films. This classic owes much of its success to Kilmer’s unforgettable portrayal of Doc Holliday. If the fact that he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar despite his stellar performance has left you feeling indignant for three decades, then listen up! Tombstone is making a comeback in stunning 4K resolution, and along with it comes a special Steelbook Blu-ray edition that’s limited in quantity.

The classic film “Tombstone” has undergone a detailed restoration and enhancement process, and it’s all set to hit shelves in two versions: a restricted edition 4K Steelbook Blu-ray/Digital release (as shown) and a standard 4K version. In the film, Kurt Russell assumes the role of U.S. Marshal Wyatt Earp, who yearns for a fresh start in Tombstone with his brothers Virgil and Morgan (portrayed by Sam Elliott and Bill Paxton). However, Earp’s tranquil existence is disrupted when he is drawn back into his old profession as a peace officer due to a band of rowdy cowboys. To restore law and order in the chaotic town, Earp collaborates with Doc Holliday and an elite group (often referred to as “immortals”) to confront the cowboy gang led by Curly Bill Brocius (Powers Boothe) and Johnny Ringo (Michael Biehn). It’s worth noting that while George P. Cosmatos is credited as the director of Tombstone, many believe that Kurt Russell played an essential, behind-the-scenes role in its direction, contributing significantly to the film becoming the timeless classic it is today.
