As a long-time fan of British television, I am absolutely thrilled about the newest addition to The Traitors family – Siobhán McSweeney as the host! Having grown up watching Sister Michael in Derry Girls, it’s surreal to see her take on this new role. Her charm, wit, and that undeniable Irish ability to deceive while smiling will make for an unforgettable viewing experience.
The Traitors Ireland has found itself a presenter in Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney.
Apart from being famously known for her role as Sister Michael in the Channel 4 comedy, the actress is also recognized for her appearances in Extraordinary and as the host of The Great Pottery Throwdown.
“Like everyone, I am a huge Traitors fan,” McSweeney said of joining the show as host.
Excited here to connect with both our faithful followers and tantalizing traitors! The Irish knack for disarming charisma and subtle deception promises a unique twist in this rendition, I’m confident.
Instead, she mentioned that it felt like sheer luck to be able to witness them so closely.
The Irish spin-off is due to air on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player in 2025, and will be filmed on location in Ireland and feature contestants from around the country.
Similar to the initial program and its multiple adaptations, this upcoming series features 22 participants who will travel to a secluded site to participate in an intense game of trickery, with the chance to win as much as €50,000.
In early 2024, The Traitors UK made a triumphant comeback, and starting from January 1st, 2025, another group of competitors will engage in another thrilling competition.
Not only that, but there’s more exciting news: a celebrity edition of the show is heading to BBC as well! Though the identities of the cast members are still secret, speculation is running high.
Amongst the buzz, I’ve heard whispers that entertainers like Alan Carr, Daisy May Cooper, Charlie Cooper, and Tom Daley might be joining the show’s ensemble. Can’t wait to see them in action!
