The Umbrella Academy Stars Reveal What They'll Miss Most About Their Characters

As a dedicated fan of The Umbrella Academy since its inception, I can’t help but feel a tinge of melancholy as we approach the final season. For four years, this extraordinary group of misfits has been my constant companions through highs and lows, laughter and tears, joy and despair. Their adventures have become an integral part of my life, much like a beloved family member that you never thought would leave but eventually does.

The fourth and concluding installment of “The Umbrella Academy” is now available on Netflix, much to the excitement of fans who are anxious to discover how this series will conclude, given that the original comics remain unfinished. This weekend, ComicBook managed to interview some of the show’s cast at the season finale premiere in Los Angeles, where we asked what they would miss most about their characters. Tom Hopper (Luther Hargreeves), Aidan Gallagher (Number Five), David Casta?eda (Diego Hargreeves), and Justin H. Min (Ben Hargreeves) all shared their feelings about parting ways with the roles they’ve portrayed since 2019.

“Min spoke about Ben saying, ‘I’ll really miss his sharp humor and spunk. I often find myself wishing I could match his quick thinking. His clever one-liners will be missed, as I tend to be more deliberate, so I’ll certainly miss that side of him.'”

“How serious he takes himself,” Casta?eda said of Diego.

Regarding Luther, it’s quite fascinating to act alongside him like a fellow sibling in this team. The most exciting part is not being present on set every day but rather playing off each other, especially against the other characters.

When asked about what he’ll miss most from working on “Five,” Gallagher shared, “I find Gerard Way’s mind fascinating. His ideas are unique, ones I wouldn’t have thought of myself. Being part of his creative universe, even in a small way, has been delightful for four seasons. That’s definitely something I’ll miss the most. Reflecting on past experiences, you realize that each phase of life is special and leaves its mark. The emotions associated with different events are a complex mix, and nothing will ever feel exactly as this did. So, I’ll miss this unique feeling.”
