As an ardent fan of Jason “Sundance” Head, I can’t help but marvel at his indomitable spirit and sheer resilience that shines through even in the face of adversity. This man, who has graced our screens on shows like The Voice and American Idol, has once again proven that he is not just a talented artist, but also a survivor par excellence.
Jason “Sundance” Head is sharing details about a terrifying experience.
Following his hospitalization due to a stomach shooting in the vicinity of his Texas ranch, the victor of “The Voice” (season 11) shared insights about the critical incident that transpired as he prepared his vehicle for a lone hunting trip.
Sundance said in a video he posted on Facebook on November 18th, he had begun packing his Jeep to drive across the property and gather all necessary items inside. The last item he picked up was his backpack, which he always carries a revolver in when traveling. It’s an old-fashioned gun that resembles those used in Western movies.
However, inadvertently, the 46-year-old failed to fasten the gun’s strap within its holster. Consequently, upon placing the bag on the passenger seat, the firearm slipped out and entered the car.
Sundance said, “I put it there, then stepped back to leave, but I was startled because it happened so quickly. As I moved, the revolver slipped from its case, struck the door jamb of the Jeep, on the floor step, and accidentally fired, wounding me.
Initially bewildered by the turn of events, the former contestant on American Idol found it hard to understand what had taken place until he experienced a sensation in his abdomen.
He recalled that the blood was flowing from his fingertips. Honestly, at that moment, I was incredibly frightened. It was then I realized I had been shot.
Upon discovering his pockets filled with blood when trying to get his phone, Sundance understood immediate assistance was necessary. Consequently, he sprinted away to locate aid.
He declared, “I leaped over our farm gate.” But it wasn’t just a casual hop—it felt more like a youthful bound, as if I were revisiting my teenage years all over again. And that, my friend, was merely the first hint of a divine intervention in this entire episode.
After reaching the highway, Sundance attempted to hail vehicles for some time until finally one pulled over.
Speaking of it, following approximately a dozen vehicles, someone kindly returned to assist me – almost as if sent from above, like an angel. The “Darlin’ Don’t Go” artist expressed, “In all my days, I have never been happier to see another person.
After the accident on November 15th, Sundance was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler, Texas and subsequently discharged late in the night. According to a statement from his wife Misty, who posted it on Sundance’s Facebook page on November 16th, he is currently recuperating at home.
The doctor determined that Sundance Head won’t require surgery, according to a statement made by his representative to TopMob News on November 15. This decision was based on the bullet not causing harm to any essential organs and being lodged in a fatty part of his abdomen near the navel.
