Having delved deep into the lives of these talented individuals who grace our screens in The Walk, I must admit that I am nothing short of astounded by their diverse backgrounds and impressive portfolios. From stage to screen, they have traversed various genres, leaving an indelible mark on our collective consciousness.
True crime drama The Walk-In starring Line of Duty actor Stephen Graham has been released on Netflix – two years after it first premiered on ITV.
In my perspective, I’m captivated by the gripping five-act play that casts Graham in the role of Matthew Collins, a reformed Neo-Nazi who teams up with a covert agent to penetrate a perilous extremist group, all while foiling an imminent assassination plot.
On The Graham Norton Show in October 2022, Graham expressed that the role he was discussing holds a special place for him – it’s a deeply moving and impactful drama that resonates significantly with current events.
He added: “I find it truly captivating, especially since it reflects society back at us.
Initially, I must admit, I felt a tad anxious about how others would respond to it. Yet, the overwhelmingly positive reception it’s gotten leaves me utterly astounded!
Additionally, Graham is joined by actors such as Dean Lennox Kelly from Shameless, Jason Flemyng known for his role in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Tracy-Ann Oberman who gained fame on EastEnders, and others.
But who do they all play? Read on for the full rundown of The Walk-In cast.
The Walk-In cast: Who stars in the drama on Netflix?
Stephen Graham plays Matthew Collins
As a seasoned movie critic, I find myself intrigued by the enigmatic figure of Matthew in this gripping tale. Once a confidant of extremist groups like the British National Party, National Front, and Combat 18, he’s now transformed into an unlikely crusader against his former allies.
Have I encountered Stephen Graham somewhere other than on screen? That might be a difficult question to answer, given his impressive TV roles spanning Peaky Blinders, Help (Channel 4’s production during the COVID pandemic), BBC One’s Time, Lennie James’s Save Me, White House Farm, The Virtues, Line of Duty, Little Boy Blue, Taboo, This is England, and Boardwalk Empire.
His film credits include Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Boiling Point ands The Irishman.
Jason Flemyng plays Nick Lowles
Who, exactly, is Nick? He holds the position of CEO for Hope Not Hate. Matt and Nick share a strong professional bond.
Have I encountered Jason Flemyng elsewhere in my viewing experience? He’s been in Boiling Point and Save Me with Graham, but you might also remember him from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Pennyworth, Two Weeks to Live, Jamestown, and The Missing as well.
Andrew Ellis plays Robbie Mullen
Who is Robbie? He’s the latest addition to the group known as NA. Driven by his growing discontentment towards perceived inequalities, he participates in a rally. There, he catches the attention of one of the group’s members and eventually becomes a part of NA. However, upon encountering Collins, his trajectory takes an unforeseen twist.
Where have I seen Andrew Ellis before? You might recognise him from This Is England and Clink
Leanne Best plays Alison
In my perspective as a movie reviewer, “Who is Alison?” she’s the resilient partner of Matthew, with whom he shares two beautiful children. Their life, however, has been marked by repeated relocations, prompted by threats from extremist factions who harbor resentment towards Collins. This tumultuous journey, I believe, adds a poignant layer to their storyline.
Have you encountered Leanne Best somewhere else apart from her roles in shows like Young Wallander, Four Lives, Close to Me, Tin Star, and others?
Dean-Charles Chapman plays Jack Renshaw
Who exactly is Jack? He’s one of the more youthful and outspoken individuals in the NA. He relishes the opportunity to address the group during their meetings, and it’s rumored that he has a plan to assassinate Labour MP Rosie Cooper and police officer Victoria Henderson.
Have I encountered Dean-Charles Chapman somewhere else in my viewing history? He is most recognized for acting as Tommen Baratheon on Game of Thrones, and also for his part in the war drama 1917.
Bobby Schofield plays Matt Hankinson
Who is the NA member that brings Robbie on board? This individual stands out among his peers due to his softer, friendlier recruitment style, which helps him draw in new supporters.
Have you recognized Bobby Schofield from somewhere else? He was recently featured in the ITV crime series The Suspect alongside Aidan Turner, as well as the Hillsborough drama Anne.
Christopher Coghill plays Chris Lythgoe
Who is Chris? He’s the new figurehead for National Action, differing from Hankinson in his preference for a more stern and unapproachable attitude.
Have I encountered Christopher Coghill somewhere else, perhaps in Home Fires or EastEnders?
Ezra Watson plays Garron Helm
Who is Garron, in simpler terms? He’s one of the younger associates within the National Action group. He recently ignited the Israeli flag during a far-right gathering.
Where have I seen Ezra Watson before? This is his most sizeable role to date.
Shvorne Marks plays Brenda
Who is Brenda? Another Hope Not Hate employee who works alongside Collins.
Have you encountered Shvorne Marks somewhere else previously? She was recently featured in Sky’s comedy-horror series titled The Baby, and she starred alongside Daisy Haggard and Martin Freeman in Breeders. Additionally, she has been seen in the show Endeavour as well.
Danny Cunningham plays Dean
“I’ve come across this individual known as ‘Dean.’ It appears he had ties with a far-right organization, the North West Infidels. Collins requested that I join their ranks and gather intel on him for him.”
Have I encountered Danny Cunningham somewhere else in my TV viewing experience? Recently, he portrayed Connor Cooper on Emmerdale, but prior to that, he played Jimmy, Linda Baldwin’s brother, on Coronation Street.
