The Wild Robot Director Is Very Down for a Sequel

As a gamer with a soft spot for well-crafted animated films, I must say that Dreamworks Animation’s latest offering, The Wild Robot, has truly captured my heart. The blend of heartwarming storytelling and complex characters is something I haven’t seen in a while, and it’s no surprise that Lupita Nyong’o breathed life into the robot character Roz so beautifully.

Dreamworks Animation’s recent release, The Wild Robot, has been both a commercial and critical hit. It ranked first at the box office during its debut weekend, and the heartwarming tale of a robot named Roz caring for an abandoned baby goose has resonated deeply with audiences. In a recent interview, director Chris Sanders discussed various aspects of creating the film, collaborating with the actors who breathed life into it, and expressed his desire to revisit this world in a sequel movie. Given its widespread success, there’s a good chance we’ll see more of The Wild Robot in the future.

Did you know that Lupita Nyong’o, famous for movies like “Black Panther,” “12 Years a Slave,” “Us,” and “A Quiet Place: Day One” among others, brought the robot Roz to life in The Wild Robot? In an interview with NBC, director Chris Sanders shared his experience collaborating with this revered actress. He noted that Nyong’o played a significant role in developing the character of Roz, as she was intricate and required much discussion. Since recording sessions could cover numerous aspects within the same narrative, they had to categorize these phases. They labeled them phase one, phase two, and phase three voice. As they progressed, they would indicate: “This is phase one voice,” and Nyong’o would adapt accordingly. Later in the same session, when moving to another phase like phase three, she would adjust again.

Regarding the prospect of a follow-up, Sanders expressed his desire to revisit this world, saying, “I’d be thrilled to come back. I believe our team has poured an unprecedented level of passion into this film, myself included. This project was a heartfelt endeavor by everyone at the studio, and yes, I think I’d like to linger here for a bit.” Although Dreamworks Animation hasn’t made any official announcements about a sequel so far, given the positive reception both critically and financially, it seems we might be in store for another installment.

The Wild Robot Reviews

In our analysis of The Wild Robot, we at egmr.ru commend Chris Sanders for his exceptional work on the film. “Chris Sanders, renowned writer/director (How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Lilo & Stitch), demonstrates yet again why he is a master in multidimensional animated storytelling. The Wild Robot movie serves as a heartwarming and mesmerizing allegory on parental love, while also serving as a sharp and at times intensely emotional critique of the challenges and profound sacrifices involved in parenthood. Both aspects harmoniously align, making The Wild Robot another triumph for Dreamworks Animation – and a certain foundation for a successful franchise.
