10 years ago, precisely on May 19, 2025, the developer CD Projekt RED made a significant stride by releasing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, following years of dedicated labor.
Categorize this under the notion that water makes things damp, yet surprisingly it turned out to be an extremely popular game, earning both critical acclaim and financial success. In fact, by 2023, it had already sold more than 50 million copies.
Reflecting on the tenth anniversary of The Witcher 3, I find myself reminiscing about the past. About a decade back, I found myself struggling emotionally and searching for purpose in life.
As a dedicated fan, I eagerly devoured the Witcher series, immersing myself in both the books and the second game. In anticipation of the upcoming third installment in Geralt’s adventures, I voraciously consumed any information I could get my hands on.
In contrast to CD Projekt RED’s previous game, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings from 2011, which was more limited in scope, The Witcher 3 represented a significant expansion. It offered a vast open world, more detailed monster quests, and the introduction of key characters from the books, such as Ciri and Yennefer.
Once I finally obtained the complete version, I found myself captivated by it. It turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for, offering a realm brimming with enigmas and intrigue, and a gentle zephyr that seemed to follow the player.
In this captivating adventure, I found myself grappling with challenging decisions, as side missions and beast-slaying escapades were intricately woven to match the main plot’s depth. The narrative of the Bloody Baron’s remorse, my pursuit of the spectral Wild Hunt, and the heartwarming reunion between Ciri and Geralt after decades apart, all held me spellbound.
In the Hearts of Stone expansion, there was a grim, fairy tale-like narrative unfolded, serving as a grave reminder that sometimes your wishes may come true. Lastly, the developers concluded it all with Blood and Wine expansion released in 2016, offering a 30+ hour long story filled with vampires and folklore, which could have easily stood alone as its own game.
Games designed to evoke intense emotions may not always succeed, but there are several instances in The Witcher 3 that can still bring tears to your eyes. This game holds a special place for me, as it resonates deeply with one of the most challenging periods in my life. As a result, it has proven its longevity and continues to be impactful.
If you haven’t played it yet, this is the perfect time to correct that mistake.
Indeed, CD Projekt RED is recognized for more than just The Witcher 3. The game Cyberpunk 2077 has significantly improved since its initial release in 2020, thanks to continuous updates. I found the 2023 expansion, Phantom Liberty, particularly engaging with its spy thriller themes and captivating mystery.
As an analyst, I can confidently affirm that this game remains uncontested as CD Projekt RED’s flagship masterpiece, a harmonious blend of captivating storytelling and ingenious game design. Recent updates have further polished its luster on contemporary hardware, incorporating ray tracing support for the latest consoles and PC, but it has always been this unique gem.
More personally, The Witcher 3 is still one of my favorite games of all time.

In crafting The Witcher 4, I sincerely hope CD Projekt RED maintains the stunning foundation they’ve built so far. It’s exciting to know that Ciri will be the main character, and I’m thrilled about this choice.
Exploring the world through her perspective offers immense possibilities, drawing upon the successes of The Witcher 3 while unveiling fresh enigmas and terrors concealed within the environment.
It’s unlikely that the upcoming adventure will happen anytime soon (perhaps not until 2027), but if it manages to achieve the greatness of The Witcher 3, I’ll definitely be thrilled about it!
Until then, I’ll see everyone on the Path.
The action-RPG game titled “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” can be played on various platforms at present. These include Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, personal computers using GOG, the Epic Games Store, or Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Nintendo Switch.
