CD Projekt RED’s game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has now surpassed a sales figure of 60 million units since its release in 2015.
On Wednesday, CD Projekt announced a significant update to investors about their business activities, disclosing that they have reached a new sales record for what many consider their masterpiece. This figure represents an increase of 10 million units compared to the previous milestone, which was achieved in 2023.
In the same shareholder briefing, CD Projekt announced that over 10 million copies of the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 have been sold, and furthermore, work on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has moved into its pre-development phase.
Currently, most of the development teams at CD Projekt RED are fully engaged in creating The Witcher 4, a project that transitioned into full-scale production towards the end of 2024.
In “The Witcher 4,” formerly known as “Project Polaris,” Ciri takes center stage as the lead character, and it’s being built utilizing Unreal Engine 5 technology. However, there are still many details about this upcoming title that remain unknown. The “Witcher 4” serves as the beginning of a new trilogy in the game series.
As per the team composition provided by CD Projekt, the current workforce on The Witcher 4 project has grown to 422 members, marking a slight increase from the 407 employees working on it in the year 2024.
Beyond Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED is simultaneously managing a remake of the original Witcher game. This remake is being constructed by Fool’s Theory, a studio established by previous members from CD Projekt RED. Meanwhile, a team at CD Projekt RED’s Boston branch is busy crafting a standalone title for the Witcher series.
Recently, I discussed the 10-year milestone for The Witcher 3, emphasizing that it remains one of the greatest video games ever created.
You can play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt right now on various platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, personal computers using GOG, the Epic Games Store, or Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
