As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the mystical lands of The Continent, I can’t help but feel both excitement and anticipation at the prospect of The Witcher 4. Geralt, the White Wolf, has been my trusted companion for years, and the idea of venturing into another grand adventure with him is a tantalizing one. However, hearing Doug Cockle’s recent comments about Geralt’s potential role in the game leaves me in a bit of a conundrum.
CD Projekt Red has been rather tight-lipped about the upcoming title in The Witcher franchise, currently unnamed and colloquially known as “The Witcher 4“. Unlike its predecessor, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt“, we don’t know who the player character will be as CD Projekt Red hasn’t disclosed a protagonist yet. Fans speculate that it won’t be Geralt of Rivia this time around, but his voice actor hinted that Geralt may still make an appearance in some form within the game.
In a YouTube video on Fall Damage channel, Doug Cockle, Geralt’s voice actor, showcased his ability to replicate lines from various Witcher games. The majority of the video focused on this task, but he also answered Witcher-related questions. Approximately 7 minutes into the video, a discussion about _The Witcher 4_ occurred, and it seemed like he confirmed Geralt’s presence in the upcoming game.
“The Witcher 4 has been revealed, but details are scarce. One thing is certain: Geralt will be present in the game, though the extent of his role remains unclear. Unlike previous installments, this game won’t center around Geralt; instead, we’re unsure who the protagonist will be.”
As a gamer myself, I’m still clueless about who the main character in the upcoming game might be. It could be that I do know already, but I’m keeping it under wraps for now.
He expressed eagerness to discover and curiosity to learn, he remarked. As for the script, he hasn’t set his eyes on one yet. In other words, if he had, he wouldn’t be able to share that information with you. However, here’s the twist: while he could be deceiving you through his words…he insists he isn’t…or perhaps he is?
It remains undecided by CD Projekt Red if Geralt will appear in The Witcher 4, but there are strong indications that suggest a new main character will be introduced while Geralt may still have some role, even if it’s minor. Cockle has stated that “we know” Geralt will be part of the new game, although this might just be him jumping on the speculation bandwagon since there’s no official confirmation yet. However, it could also be our first hint at Geralt appearing in The Witcher 4.
In addition to the highly anticipated game known as “The Witcher 4,” internally at CD Projekt Red, they are also developing a follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077, which has been codenamed “Project Orion.”
