He’s not the only new face on the scene, either.
Actor Lawrence Fishburne, known for his role in The Matrix, has been added to the cast as the character Regis. Regis, first appearing in Andrzej Sapkowski’s book “Baptism of Fire”, is a skilled and enigmatic barber-surgeon with a hidden past, who teams up with Geralt on his travels during season 4.
Fishburne expressed his enthusiasm about his upcoming part by saying, “I’m really thrilled to become a part of this talented cast and can’t wait to delve into the fascinating universe of The Witcher.
In the meantime, it’s been officially decided that Vesemir will be played by a different actor, as Kim Bodnia won’t reprise his role for season 4.
A representative from Bodnia stated: “Kim is unable to reprise his role as Vesemir in The Witcher season 4, as his filming commitments do not align with Netflix’s production schedule for the show.
Among the returning cast members, you’ll see many familiar faces again, including Freya Allan playing Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra portraying Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey reprising his character, Jaskier.
As a devoted cinephile, I can hardly wait to see how Duny/The White Flame expands her influence in the narrative following the jaw-dropping twist at the climax of the last movie installment.
Nevertheless, some beloved characters might not reappear – notably MyAnna Buring’s character, who met a tragic end as Tissaia de Vries in season 3.
Throughout the series, Tissania assumed a maternal role towards Yennefer and the other sorceresses; however, following an excess of painful experiences, she opted for suicide in the third season.
It seems to me that the level of pain is intolerable, and what once seemed like her potential to significantly aid the kingdoms, Aretuza, and the future of Chaos, she now recognizes deep within herself that she is of no use in this capacity.
It seems likely that’s the reason she has but one option left – an ending. She isn’t a part of what lies ahead; it’s the others who are. This leaves an extraordinary group behind.
Additionally, Vizimir (previously played by Ed Birch) will not reappear, since he met his end in the season 3 finale as part of a scheme to put his brother Radovid (portrayed by Hugh Skinner) on the throne.
In the third season, tragedy struck for Francesca as she endured the heartbreaking loss of her newborn baby, her brother Gage (Kaine Zajaz), and her husband Filavandrel (Tom Canton). Unfortunately, it appears we won’t be seeing these characters again, but their departures will undoubtedly shape Francesca’s journey significantly in season 4.

Season 4 of The Witcher will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire.
Previously, our protagonists were scattered throughout the continent, and the forthcoming book reveals them uniting disparate groups to reconnect with one another.
In the synopsis from Netflix, it’s stated that the upcoming season unfolds as Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri navigate a continent torn apart by conflict, each traveling separately while encountering various demons amidst the devastation left behind from the dramatic events concluded in season three.
If they learn to accept and guide the oddball groups they encounter, they stand a good chance of making it through their trials by fire and reconnecting with each other.
According to star Joey Batey, an exciting advancement is potentially part of the upcoming season – if all goes as planned.
He mentioned to Metro that he’s excited to delve into something known as the Hanza. From what I gather, it’s a popular scene, or so I believe, within the context of the team that Geralt has put together to save Ciri.
Further details about the storyline are being withheld for now, yet we’re eagerly anticipating uncovering more surprises as the season unfolds!
In an earlier statement, the author expressed a desire for more of his ideas from the Sapkowski books to be incorporated into the TV series than has currently been done.
During a chat with the YouTube channel Cerealkillerz (as reported by Variety at Vienna Comic Con), The Witcher’s original creator shared that he dropped by the filming location and offered suggestions for the series; however, he mentioned that none of his proposals ended up being implemented in the show.
In fact, Sapkowski acknowledged that it was quite common for him to do so. After all, the author has penned numerous novels, several of which have been transformed into various adaptations, such as video game series.
