The Witcher’s Liam Hemsworth likens takeover experience to Doctor Who

As a seasoned movie reviewer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Liam Hemsworth‘s takeover of Geralt of Rivia in “The Witcher” has been an intriguing journey to witness. Comparing it to Doctor Who’s regenerations is spot on, and it brings a fresh perspective to the series.

Liam Hemsworth discusses his transition into the role of The Witcher previously held by Henry Cavill, likening it to the Doctor Who’s process of regeneration.

Prior to the debut of season 3, it became known that Henry Cavill would no longer portray Geralt of Rivia. Instead, Liam Hemsworth, famously recognized from The Hunger Games, was tapped to play Geralt starting with season 4 and future episodes.

In an unusual scenario that few actors may have encountered, except perhaps those playing Doctor Who characters, Hemsworth mentioned that his situation was distinctive because while most of the cast remained consistent, the main character had been replaced.

In his addition to Collider, he expressed it felt akin to walking into high school where everyone was already established friends, having relationships, and had been there from the start.

occasionally, I get a sense of being on the fringes, yet none of the team or cast have ever made me feel that way. Instead, they’ve consistently been warm and fully cognizant of the circumstances surrounding us.

In a statement announcing his departure, Cavill handed over the role to Hemsworth, expressing his eagerness to witness “Hemsworth’s interpretation of this complex and intriguing character.

He added: “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

“No one can ask anything more than just complete committal to this role and that’s what he’s doing. We’re all really excited.”

Freya Allan, the actress who plays Ciri, remarked about Cavill’s departure: “It happened a few months after we finished filming, which took us all by surprise. However, now we are focusing on appreciating the efforts we put into season 3 and shining a light on that hard work. We aim to focus on this and look forward to what lies ahead, and I believe it will be intriguing to see Liam’s portrayal of this character.

The Witcher season 3 is available to stream on Netflix. You can sign up for Netflix from £4.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
