As a seasoned gamer who has weathered many storms in the gaming industry, I can’t help but feel a mix of hope and skepticism when it comes to The Wolf Among Us 2. I’ve been following this title since its initial announcement back in 2014, and the journey so far has been as turbulent as Bigby Wolf’s own adventures in Fabletown.
Contrary to a recent claim on Reddit, Telltale Games has verified that The Wolf Among Us 2 is indeed ongoing.
In simpler terms, the developer’s PR stated to Eurogamer, “Usually, we don’t respond to rumors or unverified Reddit discussions. However, work on The Wolf Among Us 2 is progressing, and we can’t wait to reveal more about the game to our Telltale fans and community at the appropriate time.
The article mentioned a reference implying that the project had reached a crucial stage, possibly forcing Telltale to put it on hold indefinitely. There was also an alleged internal company pressure to keep matters confidential as they attempted to find a way to progress, but the outlook appears bleak. However, the author has since removed the report and their account from public view.
Indeed, the project has encountered its share of challenges during its developmental phase, starting from when it was reintroduced in 2019. It was disclosed that the development process had to begin anew, and since then, there have been numerous setbacks throughout the subsequent years. Last year, it moved to Unreal Engine 5, but Jonah Huang, the former cinematic director, confirmed a series of layoffs in September 2023.
Although Telltale Games didn’t release a significant update in April, rest assured that their narrative adventure game is still on track to launch this year across platforms such as Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Keep an eye out for future updates, and don’t forget to check out the latest images available now.
