Four years have passed since Forza Horizon 5 was released, leading many enthusiasts to anticipate some news about the following edition by this point, considering the release patterns of its previous versions.
Ah, the Xbox Games Showcase! Surely that’s as good a chance as any to show off Forza Horizon 6?
2025 won’t see the release of Forza Horizon 6. However, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Gaming, hinted that it might be planned for 2026.
Here’s an exciting piece of news: “Players are going to be part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Xbox by receiving a new Fable, the upcoming Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and a timeless favorite that’s been there since day one!
From that one quote, there’s a lot to ponder, but as far as Forza is concerned, there are two significant takeaways. Firstly, since the last release was Forza Motorsport, it seems logical that the upcoming game will belong to the Horizon series.
Second, Xbox’s 25th anniversary is in 2026. That’s next year.
The downside, of course, is that it implies another year with Forza Horizon 5 (and let me assure you, we enjoy every moment of it!), but I can’t help but build up more excitement, knowing full well that it’s a surefire way to end up feeling let down.
Microsoft is set to make a major milestone with the 25th anniversary of Xbox in 2026, and it’s likely they will aim for an exceptionally exciting year for their own games. Known developers like Playground Games (responsible for Forza Horizon) are also working on Fable, so expect them to be quite occupied.
It’s a shame fans don’t have anything new to celebrate, but next year isn’t that far away, right?
