This Awesome LEGO PS2 Set Will Be Officially Considered for Production

As a seasoned gamer with decades of console history under my belt, the news of a potential LEGO PS2 set has sent waves of nostalgia coursing through me! I vividly remember the days of playing Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy X on that iconic black box, and the thought of constructing a miniature replica brings a smile to my face. The attention to detail in this project is impressive, from the 2,000+ pieces to the opening disc tray and removable memory card covers.

However, as someone who’s been through the ups and downs of Kickstarter campaigns and fan projects, I know that the road ahead is still long. The approval process, potential delays, and the need for Sony’s blessing are all hurdles to overcome. But hey, stranger things have happened! Remember when we thought we’d never get a LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean?

So, if you’re ready to relive the glory days of the PlayStation 2, join me in showing our support for this project in the comments below. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll be building our very own LEGO PS2 and swapping digital memories instead of physical ones!

Oh, and just a friendly reminder: always double-check your LEGO memory card slots before saving your game… you don’t want to lose any progress on that epic adventure!

Through the backing of users, a custom LEGO PlayStation 2 design has garnered sufficient interest for LEGO to contemplate its production and eventual availability for purchase.

Hey there, fellow LEGO enthusiasts! I’ve always dreamt of seeing my unique and imaginative LEGO creations come to life as official sets. That’s why I often find myself scrolling through the LEGO Ideas site, submitting my designs, and rallying supporters. It’s a thrill when that number hits 10,000 within the specified timeframe – it means my project has moved into the review phase at the Danish company! The anticipation is palpable as I wait to hear whether my creation will be developed for mass production. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, but every step of this creative journey is worth it when I imagine my design gracing the shelves of LEGO stores around the world! 😊

RippleDrive’s PS2 Lego set has gathered sufficient backers to be considered during the evaluation process for LEGO’s 2025 phase, which occurs in January. This means that it could potentially become a real product in the future.

This collection, as it stands now, includes approximately 2,000 components, enabling you to construct a replica of the console (authentic design), a miniaturized DualShock 2 controller, and memory cards that closely match their real-world counterparts. Additionally, the disc tray can be opened for added authenticity, and you can remove the simulated memory card covers to insert your LEGO memory cards or plug in the mock controller.

An added advantage is that the collection comes with internal components built-in, allowing you to remove the top for easy inspection of the pieces and electrical system that powers the device.

It’s a super-detailed set that fans of PlayStation and retro gaming will definitely want to own.

Nevertheless, there are certain steps to be taken before this idea becomes feasible. If LEGO agrees to advance it towards complete development and manufacturing, they would still require Sony’s approval for it to proceed.

It’s exciting to know that PlayStation and LEGO have formed a partnership through LEGO Horizon Adventures, along with some official Horizon LEGO sets. While it may seem unusual, such collaborations do occur, so we’re optimistic about the future of this partnership.
