This crazy soccer RPG series is coming to Xbox consoles for the very first time

For the first time, Level-5 Inc., known for crafting beloved Japanese game series such as Professor Layton, Ni No Kuni, Yo-Kai Watch (and co-developer of Dragon Quest VIII and IX), has unveiled plans to introduce its Inazuma Eleven franchise on Xbox consoles with Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road.

During a unique live-stream event, details about Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road were unveiled, including its gameplay mechanics, narrative, and scheduled launch on August 21, 2025.

For those not familiar, Inazuma Eleven is a popular soccer video game collection blended with role-playing game (RPG) features. It was initially developed in 2008 and has since grown into an extensive multimedia franchise, encompassing various games, manga, and anime TV shows and movies.

Instead of games like FIFA or EA Sports FC that mimic real-world soccer, Inazuma Eleven offers an exaggerated, romanticized, and cartoony perspective on the sport. Characters in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road also use abilities akin to superpowers to secure victories.

Individuals can participate in soccer games through the single-player narrative, chronicles, and multiplayer competition modes, either solo or with others online.

The Storyline unfolds around Destin Billows, a youthful high-schooler, embarking on a journey aimed at elevating his soccer team to the top rankings in all of Japan.

In this mode, you’ll participate in a variety of mini-games and group activities alongside your classmates to identify those who would make valuable additions to your team. It guarantees an extraordinary sports tale packed with humor, emotion, and excitement.

In Chronicle Mode, players can re-experience iconic games and pivotal moments across the entire Inazuma Eleven series while being assisted by Victorio, the time-traveling character.

Users have an opportunity to engage with unique tasks and amass a roster of approximately 5,200 distinct characters, aiming to assemble the ideal Inazuma Eleven super squad.

During games, players of Inazuma Eleven can now employ two different modes: ‘Manual Mode’ for hands-on control, and ‘Command Mode’ for strategic oversight.

Manuel Mode lets players directly control one character at a time like a regular soccer video game.

As a player, I step back and let the AI take command of my characters, while I offer tactical guidance and strategize formation adjustments for my team.

During breaks from games, players have the opportunity to step into Bond Town where they can design their own unique character and engage in online interactions with other players.

You can even team up with other players to take part in special 2-player tag matches.

Xbox scores yet another popular RPG franchise

For a newcomer to the series, this forthcoming Xbox game appears incredibly wild and exciting!

Though I myself prefer wrestling games such as WWE 2K25, I acknowledge that Inazuma Eleven has managed to stay popular for over ten years because of its high-quality production and the entertaining spectacle of its exaggerated special moves.

For sports anime and soccer enthusiasts, don’t forget to watch out for Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road when it releases on August 21, 2025, across various platforms including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the new Nintendo Switch, its successor, and PC via Steam.
