This New PC Game is Essentially Roguelike Star Fox

It’s been quite some time since the last Star Fox game came out, with the last one being Star Fox 2, initially canceled for the Super Nintendo but finally released in 2017 as part of the SNES Classic Edition console. With eight years passing without a new Nintendo on-rail space shooter, independent developers have stepped up to create their own interpretations of this popular series. One example is the recent release Whisker Squadron: Survivor, a roguelike shooter that appears to be inspired by Fox McCloud and his crew of anthropomorphic characters.

Created by Flippfly, Whisker Squadron: Survivor combines on-rail shooter mechanics with roguelike game structure. In this title, players pick a ship and weapon of their choice before embarking on a mission to combat the robotic menace known as The Swarm. Every playthrough is unique, offering players the opportunity to repel the enemy, build relationships with crewmates, and uncover details about Whisker Squadron’s commander Gigi. By completing each run, players can unlock permanent ship enhancements and new weapons. The game offers three distinct acts featuring their respective boss battles, voice-acted dialogue, and customization options to tailor the gaming experience.

Right now, you can purchase “Whisker Squadron: Survivor” on Steam for PC. Normally priced at $19.99, it’s currently offering a discounted price of $15.99 until February 28th. If you’re interested in getting this game at a lower cost, I recommend buying it soon. Additionally, there’s a Deluxe Edition available that includes the base game, soundtrack, and a Digital Extras pack which features a 24-page digital art book, print-your-own papercraft ship, and more. This Deluxe Edition is usually $27.87 but is currently selling for $22.29.

The game “Whisker Squadron: Survivor,” recently emerged from early access, has received a substantial update by its developers, Flippfly, in celebration of its 1.0 release. Below is a summary of the modifications for players who have previously experienced the game:

1. Improved visuals and enhanced graphics for an even more immersive gaming experience.

3. New levels and missions to explore, providing fresh content for veteran players.
4. Balancing adjustments to ensure a fair challenge across all difficulty settings.
5. User interface refinements for smoother navigation and interaction within the game.
6. Bug fixes and optimizations to address common issues and improve overall performance.
7. Addition of new customization options, allowing players to personalize their squadrons further.
8. Implementation of new rewards and achievements, encouraging players to push themselves further in pursuit of mastery.
