It’s time for yet another exciting expansion in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, and you may find yourself growing weary of the collecting process. Given the numerous sets to choose from, and a limited number of free packs or Pack Hourglasses at your disposal, acquiring every card seems like an unattainable goal. But don’t worry! I’ve found a strategy that could make things easier for you, and it doesn’t involve stockpiling Pack Hourglasses.
The latest expansion in Pokemon TCG Pocket is here, but collecting all the cards might seem tough due to limited resources. However, I’ve found a tip that could help you out without hoarding Pack Hourglasses.
Starting from April 30th, you can draw the Celestial Guardians expansion pack. Inside this set, you’ll find sensational first-time appearances of Legendaries like Lunala and Solgaleo, a strong Rayquaza ex, and the sought-after Rare Candy Trainer card, along with other choices. Gathering them all might seem challenging, but I’ve been using an effective trick that beats Pack Points or just opening numerous boosters.

Initially, when Mythical Island was introduced, I found myself doing the same tedious routine as every other player in the Pokemon TCG Pocket community. I hoarded every Pack Hourglass, opted for the Premium Subscription to boost my loot, and tried to save up as many shop credits as humanly possible to buy more Pack Hourglasses at a moment’s notice. Regrettably, without dipping into my real-world wallet, there is a definite ceiling on how much of this currency one can accumulate.
With expansions speeding up their loot releases, the stockpiling method using Pack Hourglass grew less dependable, leaving me feeling swamped. In fact, Space-Time Smackdown depleted all my accumulated currency through poor drops, causing me to abandon the game for over a month.
One challenging aspect of the Pokemon TCG Pocket game is its gacha system, where each pack opening presents a random draw from an extensive collection of cards. The likelihood of pulling any particular card is determined by percentages, which can result in obtaining numerous duplicate cards that are not beneficial for constructing competitive decks and may lead to wasting pack openings.
However, through all of this, I had overlooked one very important element of the game: Wonder Pick.
The Wonder feature seems more like a secondary game element. Interaction is primarily limited to claiming daily perks or accomplishing tasks for incentives. Rarely do I find myself engaging with it, even during Wonder Events, as I often don’t see the value in doing so.
Despite the absence of Celestial Guardians, I found myself needing two Rare Candies for my Celebi ex deck. Facing a 200+ card list, I was instantly overwhelmed with a wave of despair. It seemed like an impossible task, finding those rare items amidst all that abundance.
It was during that moment when I randomly launched Wonder Pick. To my surprise, I discovered I had amassed approximately 600 Wonder Timeglasses. This accumulation occurred because I hadn’t utilized the feature for a couple of weeks. Unlike Pack Timeglasses, Wonder Timeglasses are more convenient to hoard. When used tactically, they can boost your chances of drawing the desired card by allowing you to choose from packs that someone else has already selected. Instead of having odds around 1 in 200+ with fluctuating probabilities, you’re now facing a much better chance of 1 in 6, where each selection offers an equal opportunity to pick what you desire.
It’s fortunate for me that others had previously pulled the Rare Candy I was after. All I need now is for a Wonder Pick to offer the card, which will significantly improve my chances when I take a try.
How To Horde Your Wonder Hourglasses
In the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, the most effective strategy for saving Wonder Hourglasses is to abstain from using the Wonder Pick except during immediate releases. It’s tempting to use the pick when you’re idle, spending the currency or chasing after rare cards that other players might have obtained, but doing so will squander your picks. Instead, try to use the system only when your timed charges are fully loaded, and resist the urge to touch the Wonder Hourglasses.
It’s more economical to purchase Hourglasses individually (Wonder Hourglasses) compared to buying a pack (Pack Hourglasses). Players can accumulate credits by participating in battle events and completing daily tasks, which can then be utilized to purchase multiple Wonder Hourglasses at once.
Instead of receiving Pack Hourglasses infrequently or in small amounts, Wonder Hourglasses are often distributed more abundantly. To maximize your earnings of this valuable currency, explore tasks that reward Wonder Hourglasses and prioritize completing them.
Instead of immediately using all your Wonder Picks on every player pull for the new expansion as soon as an update comes out that includes cards you’re particularly interested in, consider taking a more patient approach. Frequently revisit the game and only use your saved Hourglasses on Wonder Picks that feature the cards you truly desire. Take advantage of pulling random cards from packs during the expansion’s lifespan. Utilize the Wonder Pick to carefully select the pulls you want, focusing on key components for the decks you wish to construct.
By accumulating numerous Wonder Hourglasses, you’ll have the freedom to select as many cards as desired from the Wonder Pick. I plan to utilize them for acquiring additional key Item and Supporter cards during the Celestial Guardians expansion. I might even aim for a few Shiny cards in the process.
