This RTX 4060-powered gaming PC is well under $900 for Cyber Monday, but hurry — it won’t stay that low for long

As someone who’s been around the tech world long enough to remember when a decent gaming PC would break the bank, I must say, these days are truly a marvel. The Cyber Monday deals we’re seeing this year are nothing short of spectacular.

1080p gaming PCs, which offer a balance between affordability and decent performance, can be found at competitive prices on the market. These PCs often receive further price reductions during Cyber Monday’s temporary discounts. As we speak, the Black Friday follow-up sales event is ongoing, providing numerous deals like these for a limited time.

One of the best I’ve seen today while combing through the web is this colossal 37% markdown on HP’s entry-level OMEN 35L PC, with Cyber Monday slashing the price down a whopping $520. That brings it well under the $1,000 mark and down to just $849.99 at the HP store, with options available to spend extra money on upgrades if you want them. Note that there’s also an Intel version for $879.99 for folks who prefer Team Blue processors over AMD’s.

Great 1080p gaming for under $1,000

To enjoy top-tier PC games at their best, especially in high resolutions like ultrawide (3440×1440) and 4K, one typically needs a pricey gaming setup. However, it’s less costly than many assume when playing at 1080p, particularly with a good deal like this one. NVIDIA’s budget-friendly RTX 4060 GPU offers ample power to provide a smooth 60+ FPS experience with most settings maximized. By adjusting certain settings or leveraging DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation, you can achieve triple-digit FPS or even comfortably game at 1440p.

In this setup, the card is partnered with AMD Ryzen 5 8500G CPU, providing sufficient processing power for gaming at this tier. While Intel’s i5-14440F offers slightly better performance, you’ll have to spend an additional $30 to get it; personally, I recommend both options, so the choice is yours as to whether the extra cost is worth it. Other specifications and features include 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 500W power supply, and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity. To top it off, the case fans, CPU cooler, and memory have RGB lighting, adding some stylish gaming appeal to the rig.

The one drawback about this PC is that it only comes with a 512GB SSD at the entry level, which you’ll rapidly fill up in today’s world where it’s not uncommon for new games to require 100GB of space or more (STALKER 2 and its PC requirements are the most recent example of this). The good news is that you can spend an extra $80 to bump that up to 1TB, which is definitely worth considering given the $520 discount. Still, though, I wish the 1TB SSD model was offered at base.

Apart from that, it’s an exceptionally powerful gaming PC priced at just $850, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking for a new 1080p setup. If you’re seeking something more robust, consider the Lenovo Legion Tower with an RTX 4080 SUPER. Currently, it’s almost $800 cheaper, and it’s an outstanding choice for those who enjoy gaming at 4K resolution with ray tracing and top-tier settings. You might even call it perfect for a high-performance breakfast! But remember, Cyber Monday ends at midnight, so don’t hesitate to make your purchase.

When did Black Friday end?

Black Friday formally concluded at midnight on November 29 last week since it’s always held on the day following Thanksgiving. Yet, numerous Black Friday offers extended over the weekend and into Cyber Monday, with many of them still being accessible or replaced by fresh discounts. A few, however, have been discontinued.

When does Cyber Monday start?

Today marks the start of Cyber Monday, falling on December 2, 2024. This annual event occurs on the Monday following Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend, serving as an extension of the Black Friday sales. Initially, many Black Friday deals were transformed into Cyber Monday offers when the day began, while retailers have also rolled out new deals exclusively for this online shopping event.

When does Cyber Monday end?

Just as Black Friday ends 24 hours after it begins, wrapping up at midnight when Tuesday takes over from Monday, it’s important to note that some stores continue a portion of their Cyber Monday deals for a few days beyond Monday. Therefore, if you come across an appealing discount, it might be wise not to delay purchasing it, but it could also be beneficial to keep an eye on any remaining sales.
