This School Girl Street Fighter 6 Anime Could Be the Hottest New Series of the Year

2020 marked the start of my journey with the captivating Yuri manga, “Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games.” Eight captivating volumes deep, I eagerly await the anime adaptation from Diomedéa slated for this year. To add fuel to the excitement, Capcom has officially joined forces to make Street Fighter 6 the focal point of this enthralling series!

Previously, a live-action web series based on the comic was launched, using Street Fighter 5 instead of the fictional combat game from the manga. However, for a fresh take on the story, it’s appropriate to adapt it using the latest installment of the franchise.

The story primarily centers on a tight-knit group of students from an all-female school who harbor a shared enthusiasm for combat games, despite the prohibition of gaming consoles at their institution. In time, they manage to compete in Japan’s most prestigious fighting game tournament, and it essentially portrays them battling against insurmountable odds – incorporating intricate fighting game jargon along the way.

In the anime, the artwork appears impressive, but there’s an odd juxtaposition as the incorporation of raw Street Fighter 6 gameplay footage seems inconsistent with the overall flow of the scenes.

Currently, there’s no news about an English release for this, but considering Seven Seas publishes the manga in the West, we anticipate that it will eventually be distributed on platforms like Netflix or Crunchyroll.
