What you need to know

  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched in September 2024, and the game has garnered “millions” of players so far.
  • A new co-op focused Operations mission is coming later in October, bringing a new Tyranid threat in the form of the Hierophant Bio-Titan.
  • Other impending additions include Dark Angels-themed cosmetic packs and a new Lethal difficulty.
  • The roadmap for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 extends well into 2025, with more free and paid content on the way.

As a seasoned gamer and Warhammer 40k fan with a soft spot for Space Marines, I can’t help but be thrilled about the latest updates for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Having played the original back in the day, I was eagerly awaiting this sequel, and it has not disappointed.

We’ve got our first look at the next big threat facing down the Adeptus Astartes.

In the aftermath of the launch, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment unveiled additional details about upcoming features for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in a revealing video.

Previously, it was announced that the first Operations mission for the game would arrive in October. However, this overview unveils an even more formidable challenge for players – a monstrous Tyranid threat known as the Hierophant Bio-Titan, significantly increasing the roster of adversaries and bosses in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. For a brief glimpse, check out the video below:

Beyond this enormous structure, players will soon encounter the Neo-Volkite pistol weapon and the challenging Lethal mode. For additional content that requires payment, there’s the forthcoming Dark Angels cosmetic bundle, featuring intricate customization options for the Bulwark class and Power Sword. These bundles (along with future cosmetic enhancements) are accessible to season pass holders.

Following their initial plan, Saber Interactive continues to add new features to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 over the next few months.

If the game does well, there’s a chance we might get additional campaign DLC, and maybe even a third installment of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

In my critique of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, I noted that under the leadership of Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment, Titus and the Ultramarines returned to the battlefield with a visceral, thrilling adventure that’s not only aesthetically pleasing but also enjoyable to play throughout.

The new release, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2,” is now accessible on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. Notably, it offers cross-platform compatibility in Operations mode for all systems, while console cross-play is supported in the Player vs Player (PvP) battles.
