Throne and Liberty Is Already One of Steam's Most Popular Games Right After Release

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the release of Throne and Liberty has truly caught my attention. Having played PUBG, GTA 5, Baldur’s Gate 3, and countless other Steam games, it’s rare to find an MMORPG that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the greats, let alone eclipse them in popularity so quickly.

Games like PUBG, GTA 5, Baldur’s Gate 3, and others are currently overshadowed by a newly released MMORPG for PC – Throne and Liberty. This free-to-play game has recently left early access and is now fully available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam as of October 1st. Although it’s difficult to track numbers on PlayStation and Xbox, it’s evident that the game has made a strong debut on PC as it currently ranks as the fourth most played game on the platform.

As of its release, “Throne and Liberty” boasts an impressive 304,069 active players on Steam. Although many gamers might have been anticipating this title, it being a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) and heavily focused on guilds means that the game encourages larger groups to play together. However, what seems to be driving its popularity even more is that “Throne and Liberty” is free to play. At present, it’s performing exceptionally well, particularly given its mid-week launch. As we approach the weekend, the number of players is likely to increase further as there aren’t many other games in this genre that can challenge “Throne and Liberty”. Unless players are eagerly awaiting the remake of “Until Dawn” or engrossed in “Starfield: Shattered Space”, they might find themselves drawn to “Throne and Liberty”.

Currently, the games that sit above Throne and Liberty are Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 (two staples in the gaming world), and Banana. Below Throne and Liberty, you’ll find PUBG, Satisfactory, and Deadlock, meaning it’s keeping good company for now, provided it can continue or boost its player numbers. On a broader scale, it has already secured a respectable position with over 300,000 peak players, placing it at No. 33 in Steam’s overall chart by peak players, which is quite an achievement for a new game.

In the game Throne and Liberty, guilds play a significant role in enhancing the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) experience. However, the developers at NCSOFT and publishers Amazon Games also emphasize the game’s immersive “narrative adventure” set in a new world called Solisium. This adventure offers Player versus Player (PvP) content where you can engage in large-scale battles against numerous other players. If, however, your preference leans more towards solo play, there are traditional MMO tasks such as PvE boss fights and areas to explore, along with less action-packed activities like fishing and crafting.

Since Amazon Games is its publisher, Throne and Liberty joins the list as another game from the same creators who have previously launched titles like New World and Lost Ark. While New World and Lost Ark currently have a higher number of concurrent players than Throne and Liberty, it’s worth noting that Throne and Liberty is still relatively new.
