Throne and Liberty Warns Players They Are Unknowingly Playing an Old Version of the Game

As a dedicated gamer who has been through countless gaming generations, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia when I hear about beta versions. However, as a PS5 owner, I must admit that the recent warning from NCSoft about Throne and Liberty has left me scratching my head.

Players of Throne and Liberty have been notified by developer NCSoft that they might be running an outdated version of the game, specifically the Open Beta version, instead of the current live, updated one. Fortunately, this seems to only affect PS5 users, as those on PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X shouldn’t worry. However, for those on PS5, there’s no need to fret as there’s an easy fix available.

As a gamer, I recently learned from the game’s official account on NCSoft that there might be an issue where the game on PlayStation 5 defaults to the Open Beta version. Unfortunately, they haven’t explained why this happens exclusively on PS5. If you’ve been playing the game thinking it was the full version, you should double-check and ensure you didn’t end up in the Open Beta all along. However, if you’re like me, someone who hasn’t dabbled in the Open Beta on PlayStation 5, then this shouldn’t concern you at all.

If you’re playing on PS5 and previously had the “Throne and Liberty” Open Beta, it might inadvertently direct you to the beta version when you try to play. To prevent this, make sure to select the correct version when opening the game by choosing the three-dot menu. You can also remove the Open Beta client from your console if you want to eliminate any future confusion about which version to launch.

If you’re finding it difficult to distinguish between the Beta and Live versions, make sure to select the Beta app, tap on the three dots, and from there choose the PS5 edition (not the PS5 Beta edition). This action should help avoid such issues in the future.

Since the game launched on October 1st, it’s unknown exactly how many PlayStation 5 (PS5) users have been playing the initial open beta version. However, the significant number of players using this version led developer NCSoft to make a statement about it. It’s uncertain whether the open beta will be phased out at some point, eliminating the need for players to check their versions.
