As a seasoned gamer who’s been traversing the digital realms since the days of 8-bit graphics and joystick controls, I’ve seen my fair share of labyrinthine dungeons. The “Traces of the Missing” Exploration Codex quest in Syleus’ Abyss of Throne & Liberty is one such challenge that has piqued my interest.
In this tutorial, we’ll take you on a journey to accomplish each of the four goals necessary for finishing the “Traces of the Missing” Exploration Codex quest in Syleus’ Abyss of Throne & Liberty. This labyrinth can be challenging, but with our straightforward guide, you’ll breeze through the objectives effortlessly. I’ll demonstrate where to locate crucial items, help navigate the dungeon, and prepare for encounters with enemies!
Traces of the Missing Exploration Codex Guide
The “Investigation Manual for the Lost” contains a total of 4 tasks, and to accomplish these, you’ll need to navigate through the depths of the Syleus’ Abyss dungeon:
- Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’ Abyss;
- Investigate the Decayed Coffin (2/2). Yes, you’ll actually have to interact with two coffins;
- Defeat Spectermancer (2/2). You can find them in 2F;
- Defeat Spectral Shadowmancer (2/2). You can find them in 2F as well.
To achieve the initial goal, simply look for the “Expedition Records” page which is conveniently located immediately beside the main entrance. You’ll find its exact position as indicated in the image provided.
Next up, you’ll need to examine the decayed coffins (you’ll encounter two of them). To locate them, look for the sky blue diamonds marked on your minimap. Once you find them, press and hold to interact with them. This action will summon a Dark Skeleton mob. Defeat this enemy to complete the task.
To accomplish the next two tasks, which involve taking down 2 Spectral Shadowmancers and 2 Spectermancers, you’ll need to proceed to floor 2. You can get there effortlessly by navigating towards the center of floor 1, where a pit or opening is noticeable. Jump into the pit to descend to floor 2.
Next, you should keep an eye out for blue and green portals marked by red skull icons appearing on your minimap. This is how they’ll be signaled in the visual displayed below.
I suggest taking a look around the Void Altar’s vicinity, as it’s often where the bosses appear (At least in my experience). The green portal summons Spectermancers, while the blue one summons Spectral Shadowmancers. Overcome them and you’ll finish the quest.
If the portal vanishes, you may need to either wait for it to reappear or look for another location where they tend to manifest.
If you don’t find a doorway, there won’t be a leader. Thoroughly search every corner on the second level for these doorways. It’s a good idea to have a companion along with you since this part could be challenging when going solo. Once you successfully conquer that last boss, you’ll complete the Traces of the Missing quest!
