Thunderbolts* Star Compares MCU Movie to Classic Film

As a longtime Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement when it comes to the upcoming movie “Thunderbolts“. When Sebastian Stan compared this film to the classic “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, my interest was piqued even more. The idea of a group of misfit Marvel characters, each with their own unique struggles and backgrounds, coming together to unite against a common enemy sounds like a recipe for an epic story.

Actor Sebastian Stan from the Marvel film “Thunderbolts” likened the upcoming movie to the classic film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” In this 1975 film, Jack Nicholson played a character who instills rebellion among fellow inmates in a mental health facility. Given that Marvel Studios has marketed “Thunderbolts” as an assembly of misfit characters, it could be that the camaraderie born out of adversity is what Stan envisions for the film. However, some movie enthusiasts were taken aback when these remarks started circulating on social media.

Stan implied that “Thunderbolts” resembles “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” as it features a newcomer entering a disorderly group and managing to bring them together. It’s clear that this upcoming MCU team won’t immediately function harmoniously, given their initial interactions. Since they haven’t interacted much in previous movies, it’s understandable. With whispers of significant surprises in the film, they might need to pull themselves together fairly swiftly.

Thunderbolts Brings Back Some Fun Characters

2025’s Marvel Studios project, “Thunderbolts,” remains the film title enveloped in the greatest enigma. At San Diego Comic-Con, glimpses of this band of MCU antiheroes were unveiled. However, not everyone could travel to California to witness that footage firsthand. Fortunately, cast members granted interviews following the grand Marvel Studios presentation. On The Official Marvel Podcast, several key players from “Thunderbolts” were questioned about their activities since they last appeared. To put it simply, each character has been on quite a journey prior to being assembled.

Regarding the unfortunate circumstances surrounding different Thunderbolts, David Harbour injected some humor by saying, “Nobody’s doing well. I’m munching on something revolting from a bowl. Watching the movie, you can see me gaining weight in real time.” Wyatt Russell also joined in with his witty remarks. It appears the US Agent has had more gunfire aimed at him than what’s advisable over the past couple of years. Harbour added playfully, “We notice you constantly browsing your phone, searching for negative reviews! You know, typing your name into Google and thinking, ‘If I don’t find the harsh criticism, then I haven’t finished yet.’

As a devoted admirer, I’d express it like this: “It’s captivating to see Florence Pugh revisit her character. What makes it special is witnessing another facet of humanity through her portrayal, one that might not align with our preconceived notions about their lives. This insight into the human condition, especially when it’s unexpected, is truly enchanting for me.
