Thunderbolts* Star Says Sentry Needs Therapy to Take on Superman (At Least For Now)

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thunderbolts, Sentry seems poised to take on the role of an anti-hero, but as a more formidable force emerges, it may be necessary for Bob to schedule a counseling session. The world of comic books has birthed some of the most multifaceted and fascinating characters, with Sentry being one of the standouts. With Lewis Pullman, star of Top Gun: Maverick, stepping into the golden suit for Sentry’s recent, covert entry into the MCU, we haven’t seen much of this character or his true potential yet. However, there is great promise for Sentry. In an exclusive interview with ComicBook, Pullman expressed that he feels Sentry could go head-to-head against some of comics’ heaviest hitters like Superman and Homelander, but he might need therapy before facing them.

When asked by ComicBook if Sentry could fight Superman, Homelander from The Boys, or Omni-Man from Invincible, Pullman suggested that initially, Sentry might need help and therapy before being able to take them on. However, with proper assistance and a bit of time, anything could potentially happen.

“But give him a couple of years,” he added.

Though Sentry’s raw power is undeniable, it appears he may struggle against these formidable opponents without assistance from an imposter and a psychologist. The intriguing aspect of Bob Reynolds is that despite his immense physical prowess, he’s a superhero grappling with internal struggles. With early media reviews describing the film as “raw and emotional,” it’s clear that Sentry’s self-doubt will be addressed and resolved when Marvel fans finally watch Thunderbolts* on the big screen.

Although it’s unlikely that Sentry will battle Omni-Man or Homelander in the near future, Superman has a unique situation compared to Marvel in terms of box office potential. While “Thunderbolts” is scheduled for release in May, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and James Gunn’s “Superman” will compete against each other this summer.

*Note: Thunderbolts is not a confirmed Marvel movie title. It was used as an example in the original text.

Thunderbolt Productions is preparing for the long-awaited movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” with a cast lineup that includes several team members such as Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman. It remains to be seen how these characters will interact with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, but we can expect more appearances from our favorite superheroes or villains in the future. On May 2nd, when Thunderbolt hits theaters, viewers will witness Sentry’s powers and abilities for the first time, which are expected to be formidable against our newly introduced group of anti-heroes.

Thunderbolts* releases in theaters on May 2nd.
