Tia Mowry Clarifies Where She Stands With Sister Tamera Mowry

Reflecting on Bianca Lawson and Gabrielle Union’s remarkable careers, it’s clear they’ve mastered the art of transitioning from teen drama queens to leading ladies with grace and panache. Their journey through the ’90s and early 2000s, marked by iconic roles in beloved series like “Saved By the Bell,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “Dawson’s Creek,” has not only solidified their place in our hearts but also paved the way for future generations of actresses.

The Sister, Sister bond between Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry Housely is still strong.

A few days have passed since Tia sparked speculation about a supposed strained bond with her sister, following her viral statement. Now, Tia has explained her intended meaning behind those controversial words.

She shared with Us Weekly on September 24 that as we mature, we each establish our own families, and it’s natural for the younger generations to rely on us. As we progress in life, we assume new roles and duties. This is essentially what I meant.

She continued, “In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life.”

At the premiere of Tia Mowry’s new WE tv docuseries, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” there were whispers about Tia and Tamera’s current dynamic, as Tia opened up about adjustments in her life after her divorce from Cory Hardrict. Among these changes, she mentioned the shift in her bond with her twin sister.

In the video released on September 20, the 46-year-old expressed a longing to be able to call their sister again, as they wished they were still close enough for such a conversation. However, they acknowledged that at this moment in time, their relationship is not in that state.

After the remarks were made, fans began questioning the rift between the Sister, Sister co-stars. Yet, a source from TopMob clarified that Tia was merely discussing geographical separation.

The insider clarified that although the two sisters are quite close, the saying being referred to pertains to their geographical separation. To be specific, Tamera resides in Napa, while Tia calls Los Angeles her home.

Similar to Tia, accompanied by her kids Cree (age 13) and Cairo (age 6), resides her father Timothy Mowry, as well as her brother Tahj Mowry, in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Tamera, her spouse Adam Housley, and their children Aden (age 11) and Ariah (age 9) live in Napa. Lastly, the third brother, Tavior Mowry, calls Tennessee his home.

In fact, Tamera later applauded her twin for being “a strong, strong woman.”

She expressed to TopMob News in 2022 that she admires her for courageously living authentically without fear, stating, “We support her wholeheartedly, the Mowrys.

Besides acting in the show Tia & Tamera and Disney Channel Original Movies Twitches alongside her sister, Tia has also achieved solo success with The Game on BET and her own Cooking Channel program, Tia Mowry at Home. Since 2019, she has been featured in the Netflix sitcom Family Reunion, several television holiday films, and the WE tv series Tia Mowry: My Next Act.

Apart from that, Tia has additionally published a cookbook, runs her personal YouTube channel, and introduced a range of vitamins and supplements called Anser.

In the year 2008, she tied the knot with actor Cory Hardrict, whom she first encountered on the set of their movie titled “Hollywood Horror.” Together they welcomed two children: a son named Cree, born in 2013, and a daughter named Cairo, who joined the family in 2018. Unfortunately, Tia and Cory parted ways in 2023. Later on, she worked on another film production.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve always admired the multifaceted career of the incredible Tamera. Beyond her collaborations with her sister, she graced our screens as Dr. Strong Medicine on Lifetime, starred in numerous holiday TV films, and even thrived as a TV host. However, after seven years of engaging conversations on The Real, Tamera made the tough decision to bid farewell to the daytime talk show in July 2020.

She expressed her immense pride in what we achieved together at that place, which includes two NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy. Yet, as the saying goes, every good thing eventually ends, and with a mix of joy and sadness, I’m sharing the news that I’m departing from The Real.

In the year 2011, Tamera tied the knot with ex-baseball player and Fox News correspondent Adam Housley. Together, they are parents to a son, Aden, who is now 8 years old, and a daughter, Ariah, aged 6. Their family operates their own YouTube channel named “The Housley Life”.

Despite being titled “Sister, Sister“, the series predominantly revolved around the character of the mother, portrayed by the esteemed actress from “227“, who became the first and only Black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She effortlessly dominated every scene she appeared in as Lisa, Tia’s adoptive parent and fashion designer.

As a lifestyle connoisseur looking back on my journey, I’ve had the pleasure of gracing multiple television series over the years. Starting with recurring roles on “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Let’s Stay Together,” I later became a permanent fixture on “The First Family” in 2012 and joined the cast of “Tyler Perry’s The Paynes” in 2018. You may have also spotted me on shows like “Girl Meets World,” “K.C. Undercover,” and “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” More recently, I embarked on a new adventure as Paulina Price in “Days of Our Lives” in 2021.

In addition to working together, the actress was also seen again with her on-screen offspring in multiple productions. These included the docuseries titled “Tia & Tamera”, a Lifetime Christmas movie called “My Christmas Inn”, and Netflix’s series named “Family Reunion”.

The WKRP in Cincinnati and Frank’s Place star played Ray, Tamera’s oft-exasperated father.

After parting ways with his limousine service company, Reid has established himself as a recurring presence in the world of Christmas television movies. He can be seen starring in festive films on networks like Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, and OWN. Additionally, he has made guest appearances on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, That ’70s Show, Greenleaf, and Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.

Go home, Roger!

As a lifestyle guru looking back on my career journey, I’ve spent six rewarding years embodying the role of Roger, transitioning from the twins’ pesky neighbor to a potential love interest, all while being part of the dynamic R&B group Immature. Following this, I ventured into solo music, releasing an impressive six studio albums that resonated with fans worldwide. My acting career continued to flourish, gracing the screens in movies like “You’ve Got Served” and “Fat Albert.” Since 2019, I’ve been a captivating presence on VH1’s smash hit reality series “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood,” and I’ve also produced several engaging TV movies for BET. It’s been an incredible ride so far, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes me!

In August of 2020, Houston, who was 39 at the time, wed Miya Dickey, who was 19. They are the proud parents of two children: Zara, born in 2021, and Greyson, born in 2023.

After finishing his stint as Bud on The Cosby Show, Richmond joined Sister, Sister during its fifth season, portraying Jordan, Tamera’s boyfriend. Later, he featured in movies like Scream 3, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder and Not Another Teen Movie. He also made a brief appearance in an episode of Psych.

In the fifth season, we were first introduced to Lee, who was Tia’s boyfriend, known as Tyreke. He then became a main character throughout the sixth and concluding season of the series.

He would go on to guest star on a string of hit series, including Moesha, ER, Boston Public and Monk. In 2014, he landed a main role in Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse, which was produced by LeBron James and ran for three years. Most recently, he starred in the miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.

He married Sheana Freeman in 2010 and they have two sons.

In the course of his short stint on their program, the twins’ actual younger brother portrayed three distinct roles: he was Tia’s cousin Tahj, his character from the co-airing WB sitcom Smart Guy named T.J. Henderson during a crossover episode, and an SAT tutor.

Apart from playing the lead role in ‘Smart Guy’, Tahj Mowry is also recognized for his portrayal of Michelle Tanner’s best friend Teddy on ‘Full House’. Later, he gained fame as a main character in ABC Family’s successful sitcom ‘Baby Daddy’ and as the voice actor for Wade in Disney Channel’s well-liked animated series ‘Kim Possible’. His latest roles include acting in ‘The Muppets Mayhem’.

Tahj had a relationship with Glee actress Naya Rivera from around 2000 to 2004, having first met on the set of Smart Guy. After she mysteriously went missing while boating in July 2020 (and subsequently confirmed deceased by authorities), he wrote a touching tribute to her.

He penned on Instagram, “We shared the journey of growing up, maturing, and facing new experiences together.” He added, “You were my introduction to everything – love, intimacy, pain. We caused each other heartache, only to heal and be healed again… more than once.” He concluded, “I can’t erase you from my thoughts. No one has ever filled the void you left or replicated the feelings you evoked. I may not have openly admitted it, but I never stopped loving you.

It’s challenging to come across a popular TV series from the ’90s and early 2000s that Lawson (known for her role as mean girl Rhonda) didn’t feature in. Her impressive list of roles includes appearances on shows like Saved By the Bell: The New Class, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Steve Harvey Show, and Dawson’s Creek. She even portrayed a high school’s reigning bully in Save the Last Dance. Moreover, her involvement in teen dramas extended with significant supporting roles in The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, Teen Wolf, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Starting from 2016, Lawson has been a central character in the OWN drama “Queen Sugar,” a production jointly led by Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay.

Lawson developed a familial bond with Beyoncé and Solange Knowles when her father, actor Richard Lawson, wed their mother, Tina Knowles, in the year 2015. An interesting trivia: Richard had starred on “Sister, Sister”, portraying Lisa’s boyfriend during the series’ final season. However, the couple parted ways in 2024 through a divorce.

Prior to her role as cheerleader Isis in the popular 2000 film “Bring It On”, Union appeared as Vanessa, a friend of Tia and Tamera, in seasons four and five.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: From the silver screen to television, I’ve been gracing various productions for quite some time now. Some of these include “The Brothers,” “Deliver Us from Eva,” “Bad Boys II,” “The Perfect Holiday,” “Cadillac Records,” “Think Like a Man,” “Top Five,” “Birth of a Nation,” “Girls Trip,” and “Breaking In.” I’ve been recognized with an NAACP Image Award for my portrayal of a tenacious journalist in the BET series, “Being Mary Jane.” At present, you can find me reprising my role from “Bad Boys II” as an LAPD detective on Spectrum Originals’ “LA’s Finest.

For a season, Union served as a judge on America’s Got Talent. Upon her departure from the program, she claimed there was a harmful work environment on set and that she faced racist and sexist comments. In contrast, an independent probe found that no one affiliated with the show made any offensive or disparaging remarks concerning Ms. Union’s appearance. NBC and AGT producers disclosed this information in May 2020.

In response to the current situation, Union shared with Variety that her ultimate aim is genuine transformation, not just limited to this specific show, but also for the broader corporation. Change should cascade from leadership positions. Her vision is to establish an environment that fosters happiness, efficiency, inclusivity, safety, and health within the workplace as a shining example of a well-managed organization.

In 2014, she tied the knot with now-retired basketball legend Dwyane Wade, having dated for close to six years prior. Their first child, Kaavia James, was born via surrogate in 2018. Additionally, she serves as a stepmother to Wade’s three children from past relationships.
