Tia Mowry Details Babysitting Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

On the Full House set, there was plenty of sister, sister action.

Back in the ’90s, I (the overly enthusiastic fan) was fortunate enough to be on the same set as the legendary Tia Mowry! She revealed an intriguing tidbit: while she and her amazing sister Tamera were busy filming their scenes for Full House, we also got to look after the adorable Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! You know, those dynamic duo stars of Full House as Michelle Tanner. What a magical time that was!

In a June 23 Instagram post, Tia, aged 46, recalled that she and others were tasked with looking after Mary Kate and Ashley on set. During breaks in filming, we’d entertain them by playing different games.

She pointed out that viewers would find it amusing to watch the two pairs of twins, who have a seven-year age gap between them, engage with each other.

“Everyone thought it was the cutest thing,” she continued. “Twin girls watching over twin girls.”

For the remainder of this article, Tia reminisced about her and her sister’s significant journey in etching their names into television lore with the show Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999 for six seasons. She acknowledged that there were both highs and lows, as the series initially didn’t secure a spot on the fall schedule, and when it was eventually added to the midseason lineup, it was unfortunately canceled after just one season.

Nevertheless, Tia, currently mother to her 13-year-old son Cree and 6-year-old daughter Cairo with ex-husband Cory Hardrict, pointed out that everything seemed destined to happen as Warner Bros. eventually secured the series, providing the girls with a guarantee of 100 episodes.

She penned in her post, “Many believe our path to ‘Sister, Sister’ was effortless… however, allow me to clarify, it was anything but. As youngsters, we encountered much heartache and doubt. Yet, every hurdle I surmounted imparted valuable lessons. It molded my beliefs, fortitude, and readied me for all that followed. I wouldn’t alter a single step.

Following the conclusion of her divorce with Cory Hardrict in April 2023, Tia Mowry pondered over her freshly single phase.

On the first episode of her reality show, Tia Mowry: My Next Act which premiered in October 2024, she reminisced, “I was born a twin and then I spent 22 years in a relationship. So I’ve never been alone. It’s been quite an adventure.”

Tia and Cory first crossed paths in 1999 during the filming of Hollywood Horror. Their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship, with Tia sharing, “Cory was my first everything.”

On her We TV series, she added, “I met Cory when I turned 20, lost my virginity at 25, and then we got married! Boom!

In the year 2008, Tia and Cory got married. They then went on to have two beautiful kids as a family – their son, named Cree, was born in 2011, followed by their daughter, Cairo, who came into this world in 2018.

However, by 2022, the pair parted ways. In her divorce petition, Tia mentioned “unresolvable disagreements” as the cause of their separation. Later on, she shared a glimpse of when she realized that her union with Cory had reached its end.

Speaking on a recent episode of Today, the Sister, Sister actress emphasized that it was only when she began to prioritize her own happiness that she truly understood this concept. Women often tend to concentrate on ensuring everyone else around them is content – be it our family, friends, or children. However, she stressed, self-love is crucial. When one starts to genuinely care for themselves, appreciate their worth, and acknowledge their value, an extraordinary transformation occurs. This journey isn’t easy; it’s challenging, but the payoff at the end makes it all worthwhile.

After acknowledging the truth about her marital breakdown, Tia decided to be transparent with the public as well. She expressed her exhaustion of maintaining a facade and living a life that wasn’t genuine, stating in Tia Mowry: My Next Act that she was tired of attending events where people assumed everything was perfect when it wasn’t.

Tia took into account the potential impact of her divorce on Cree and Cairo in making her decision. She stated during an interview with HelloBeautiful in June 2023 that “it was also for them,” so they could witness her walking in truth. She believes this would serve as a valuable lesson because it wasn’t an easy choice to make, being one of the hardest decisions she ever had to confront. Despite any challenges or doubts, if they observe their mother persevering and living authentically, they can say that their mommy is pursuing her truth. Ultimately, Tia hopes her children will be able to forge their own paths in life someday.

She further expressed, “I hope my kids will follow that path,” she said. “To me, the most valuable present I can offer them is the freedom to choose their own life. I don’t wish for them to live the life I envision for them, or the life society expects, or even what others think they should be. I want them to understand it’s alright to have difficult days. I want them to recognize that chasing happiness is important. I want them to learn that living authentically is acceptable.

Tia and Tamera have been entertaining their fans for many years, but it seems they don’t spend as much time together off-camera as they once did.

In a preview of “Tia Mowry: My Next Act” from September, Tia shared that the hardest part about her divorce has been being alone. In moments like these, she wishes her sister was closer, so she could reach out to her whenever she needed. However, their relationship isn’t as close as it once was at this point in time.

Tia explained, “Our lives have taken separate paths now.” It was clarified that while they remain close, their physical locations differ – Tamera resides in Napa, and Tia in Los Angeles. Later, Tia further elaborated on her statement, acknowledging that as siblings, they are not always easily accessible to each other, which can be both beautiful and challenging at the same time.

It came as a surprise when Tia announced her return to reality TV, as Tamera had learned about it at the same time as the fans did. “I didn’t know,” she shared with Entertainment Tonight in May 2024. “I found out alongside the rest of the world.” When asked if she would make an appearance on Tia’s series, Tamera replied that no invitation had been extended to her. “So I take that as a no,” she said. However, Tamera seemed content with not being part of Tia’s show. “She’s saying ‘This is my story,'” Tamera added. “I can only respect that.” Meanwhile, Tia downplayed the importance of not informing Tamera about her reality show, telling the Associated Press on October 11, 2024: “It’s normal not to tell everyone everything. It doesn’t imply anything. There’s nothing significant. She’s living her life, I’m living mine. We don’t have to share every detail with each other, and that’s perfectly normal.

Previously, they have discussed their highs and lows in the past. On their old reality show “Tia & Tamera” (2011-2013), they went through a counseling session aimed at improving their communication. As Tamera explained on an episode of “The Real” in 2019, their differences required them to learn how to communicate effectively for the betterment of both parties since she is sensitive while her sister is assertive and independent.

Raised alongside her identical twin sister Tia, Tamera found it inevitable that people drew parallels between them. In a January 2024 YouTube video, she stated, “Growing up, I never had a say in the matter that comparisons would be made. It just happened.” She further explained, “People’s brains are wired to compare twins, looking for differences: ‘Oh, this one has a fuller face. This one is thinner. This twin has a mole. This twin is bubblier. One is more reserved.'”

Over time, these comparisons began to affect her negatively. “As I matured – college, TV appearances – I started taking the comparisons personally, and that’s when they became harmful,” Tamera added. She also mentioned that a simple online search would reveal numerous toxic comparisons between them.

However, her mother offered some wise advice: “Comparison steals joy.” Tamera then reflected on their unique individuality, acknowledging God’s creation of each twin differently. “Though we are twins and share the same DNA, we have different talents,” she concluded. “And that’s okay.

In the same vein as Tia sharing her experiences with Cory, Tamera has shared insights about her relationship with Adam Housley. Though she often refers to him as “the love of my life,” like any pairing, they have their moments of joy and struggle. As Tamera remarked to TopMob News in May 2024, “Thirteen years, I can’t believe it!” She added that the time has flown by quickly, and she often says, “You’ll have your ups and downs.” Tamera continues, “Our marriage isn’t flawless, but I still appreciate him. I value who he is as an individual. And surprisingly, we’re not drifting apart; instead, we are growing together.” Furthermore, they make a conscious effort to stay connected with one another.

Occasionally, inquire about their happiness by asking, “Are you content?” said Tamera, mother of Aden and Ariah with Adam. “What activities can we engage in to maintain our joy?” she added, as she expressed her desire not just for a long marriage, but for a long, happy one.

After more than a decade together, Tamera and Adam continue to maintain excitement in their marriage, as evidenced by their open discussions about keeping their relationship passionate. As Tamera put it during an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2022, maintaining a happy marriage involves setting sexual goals. She also emphasized that women should feel free to express these desires openly.

In her memoir You Should Sit Down for This, Tamera shared some specific ideas for achieving these goals, such as having intimate moments on the rooftop of a skyscraper, during a rainy car ride, and in every room throughout their home.

She shared with the media, “I was determined to break free from those old-fashioned beliefs.” She encouraged others to embrace their identities, enjoy their intimate relationships, and continue to flourish in love, even if they’ve been married for many years.

In her memoir, Tamera opened up about the challenging first four years on ‘The Real’, describing it as one of the hardest periods in her life. She battled anxiety, vomited frequently in her dressing room, and turned to excessive drinking during this time.

However, Tamera also looked back fondly on her seven-year stint on the show, cherishing the friendships she made and the inspiring people she interviewed. In a post announcing her departure from cohosting in 2020, she expressed gratitude for the lifelong bonds formed there, as well as for the positive impact the interviewees had on her life. She was proud of the achievements of the ladies on the show, including two NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy.

There’s been talk about bringing back many ’90s TV shows, and people have asked if Sister, Sister could be one of them. However, Tia and Tamera have pointed out that the process isn’t straightforward. In a 2017 episode of The Real, Tia explained they had been trying for several months but are limited in what they can do. As for some fans who might still be hopeful, Tamera confirmed to Us Weekly in May 2024 that it’s not going to happen.
