Tides of Annihilation Boasts Four Weapon Types, Dozens of Bosses, Over 30 Hours of Playtime

Among Sony’s State of Play revelations, Tides of Annihilation stood out as a surprising yet beloved hit, according to Push Square polling. Since then, fresh details have surfaced about this exciting new IP from Chengdu-based developer Eclipse Glow Games, leaving us excited for its anticipated release around 2026.

In a captivating fusion of contemporary features and timeless Arthurian lore, you step into the armored footsteps of Gwendolyn, the last of her kind following an Outworld invasion. With her ability to summon the formidable power of the ancient Knights of the Round Table during combat, she stands as a beacon of hope. We’ve been holding onto some intriguing details since our roundtable Q&A with developers at Gamescom 2024, and now we can finally share them with you!

Confirmed by Eclipse Glow, players will have the opportunity to learn and dominate four distinct weapons in the game. The combat has been emphasized as being reminiscent of Devil May Cry, offering reassurance for those who might be missing the action-packed style that departs from other games mimicking FromSoftware’s Soulslike formula. Among the known weapon types are bows, fists, and swords, though it appears there is one more weapon that was inadvertently overlooked by Eclipse’s representative.

Additionally, players will find that they can immerse themselves in over 30 hours of gameplay during an average gaming session. In terms of the main feature – battles against bosses – you’ll encounter more than 30 distinct entities, each possessing unique skills.

Intriguingly, it seems that Tides of Annihilation, developed by Chinese megapublisher Tencent, is aimed at capturing the interest of Western gamers as its second phase, following their success in catering to Eastern audiences with the highly acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong. When asked about the choice of a Western setting, Eclipse Glow explained this to Wccftech.

Hey there! As a developer working on an exciting new project backed by Tencent, I wanted to share some insights. Unlike Black Myth: Wukong, which is geared towards the Chinese market, our game has been designed with a Western audience in mind, drawing inspiration from the timeless Arthurian legends. The genesis of this project sprang from the producer’s idea revolving around knights, and we found a perfect fit with the Knights of the Round Table from these myths.

Since this is our first title aimed at a Western audience, we’re reaching out to you early in the process. We’re eager to hear your feedback as it will be instrumental in shaping the final version of our game. Your thoughts and suggestions will help us ensure that we deliver a polished and enjoyable experience for you and other Western gamers.
