Tides of Tomorrow is a New Multiplayer Narrative Adventure by the Studio Behind Road 96

Developer DigixArt, recognized for their past game Road 96, has unveiled additional information about their upcoming project – Tides of Tomorrow. During Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, a teaser for Tides of Tomorrow was showcased. According to the studio, Tides of Tomorrow is a game that “reshapes multiplayer storytelling.” You can watch the trailer below.

In a blog post on PlayStation, the game director, Adrien Poncet, shared insights into the creation of Tides of Tomorrow. Initially, the team envisioned developing a game similar to Road 96, but instead using boats as the main mode of transportation. Essentially, they proposed creating “Road 96 on water!” or “Boat 96” in simpler terms.

Instead, the evolution of the concept took a turn towards more substantial themes, such as the fundamental premise of the game, which allowed players to participate in one another’s storylines and experience the repercussions of other players’ decisions. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic oceanic environment, with an emphasis on the ecological catastrophe serving as its central motif.

In the game “Tides of Tomorrow“, players can choose another character to accompany them on their journey. As the narrative unfolds, centered around a player who is poisoned by microplastics, it will eventually be revealed that they are connected to a group called the Tidewalkers.

As a gamer, I dive into Tides of Tomorrow, a unique world where an “asynchronous vision” system is employed. This means I encounter spectral traces of other players’ choices and their impact on the game world, manifested as ghostly apparitions. By doing so, I can unravel intricate puzzles and traverse different storylines compared to my fellow gamers, creating a rich and ever-evolving gaming experience.

Tides of Tomorrow is slated for release on February 24, 2026, on the PS5.
