Can we talk about Tiffany Haddish‘s Hebrew skills?
In a special preview for NBC’s tribute show, “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All Star Tribute” (aired by TopMob News), the actress skillfully takes charge of a lively rendition of the well-known Jewish folk tune, “Hava Nagila”, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the passing of comedy icon Joan Rivers.
In simpler terms, Haddish says to the crowd, “This isn’t a mourning event, it’s a party, I promise!” Then she directs the live pianist, “Alright, let’s get this show on the road, Doogie Howser, play my tune!
In the movie Girls Trip, the star afterwards croons the words, “Hava Nagila, Hava Nagila,” meaning “it’s time to celebrate.
Haddish then turns up the heat.
She signals for everyone to come along, saying, “Let’s go, shall we?” before setting a rhythm and enthusiastically starting the next part, singing repetitively, “Come, let’s sing / Come, let’s sing / Come, let’s sing.” (This translates to “let’s sing” in Hebrew.)
Haddish even does a little twerking as she embraces the celebratory lyrics.
The 45-year-old concludes her spicy number with, “Let’s party for Joan for life.”
Besides Haddish, other well-known figures will also honor Rivers, who sadly passed away in 2014 at the age of 81.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement for the unforgettable event, “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute“, which will be recorded at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem. This tribute promises a star-studded lineup with appearances, musical segments, and stand-up comedy from none other than the brilliant Rachel Brosnahan, the hilarious Margaret Cho, the witty Nikki Glaser, the sharp-tongued Chelsea Handler, the versatile Neil Patrick Harris, the charismatic Tracy Morgan, the enigmatic Aubrey Plaza, the iconic Sarah Silverman, the seasoned Jean Smart, the charming Rita Wilson, and many more talented individuals. I can hardly wait!
Additionally, let’s not forget her daughter, Melissa Rivers, who recently shared a letter from her deceased mother that said, “Since I am no longer here, I presume someone will eventually choose to honor me. At long last, it seems appropriate.
In his statement, the 57-year-old stated that this tribute perfectly encapsulated what his mother would have desired – it was funny, honest, and populated with individuals she admired (and even teased). As expected, she was once again the funniest person in attendance. It’s profoundly touching to witness so many renowned comedians unite to honor her memory, particularly those whose careers she significantly influenced by breaking down numerous barriers.
Melissa noted, “She’d undoubtedly be delighted to witness our progress, and she’d still be jotting down thoughts. This isn’t just a tribute; it’s a testament to the path she carved and the happiness she spread among many.
As a lover of all things humor, I’m excited to share that the tribute show dedicated to the legendary Joan Rivers, “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All Star Tribute,” will make its grand debut on Tuesday, May 13th at 10 p.m. on NBC. For those who can’t catch it live, don’t worry! The show will be available for streaming the next day on Peacock. Get ready to laugh and celebrate the life of one of comedy’s greatest stars!
