TikToker Alix Earle Addresses Past Racial Slur

As a long-time admirer of Alix Earle, it is both disheartening and enlightening to witness her recent public apology for her past actions. At 13 years old, we can all acknowledge that our understanding of the world and its complexities is still developing. However, as she has grown into a woman with a significant platform, it is crucial that her words and actions reflect positivity and inclusivity.

Alix Earle is taking responsibility for her words.

The TikToker has spoken out regarding screenshots that re-emerged, dating back to the summer of 2014 on her ASKfm account, where she was found to have used a racial slur.

In a post on Instagram Stories dated August 26th, Alix expressed her accountability and clarified that she was 13 at the time and lacked understanding of the deeply disrespectful connotation associated with that term.

The 23-year-old acknowledges that it’s not a justification for employing that particular term in any situation, at any point in life. However, she feels it necessary to clarify that such language isn’t part of her vocabulary or the values she upholds.

“Apologies for any pain my words might have caused, as they seemed to suggest prejudice that I don’t hold in my heart. In truth, my focus has always been on promoting positivity, entertainment, and inspiring others, which is what I’ll continue to do. I genuinely regret if I unintentionally hurt anyone.”

The influencer admitted that she feels remorse about her actions in that specific incident. She acknowledged that she let others persuade her into remaining silent for a prolonged period, which she now recognizes was an error. Despite her good intentions at the time, she understands that it was a mistake.

If I don’t speak up about it, my quietness gives others an opportunity to spread false rumors instead.

In summary, regardless of the discussions happening online, my intention was to clarify the facts and extend a sincere apology.

2023 saw screenshots of offensive remarks emerge on the Reddit page titled “Alix Earle Snark.” However, these posts sparked criticism not only on TikTok but also on several other Reddit forums this month. One such forum is reportedly named after the podcast “Do We Know Them.

On our Aug. 12 broadcast, Jessi Smiles and Lily Marston, your dedicated hosts, spoke directly to the screenshots and the rumor regarding Alix’s attempt to copyright those specific posts. They clarified that her legal team had contacted them, even though they have no association with the subreddit in question.

Jessi stated, “Our attorney informed us that there was a copyright infringement regarding her material. It appears some users shared screenshots of it on our subreddit, and their legal team claims they hold the rights to that specific content through a trademark.”

Although Alix said there was no truth to the rumors, the podcast hosts joked that trademarking the posts would have been “a creative tactic.
