As a dedicated follower of Caleb Graves, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of sorrow and disbelief. His passion for running was evident in every post, and his final words were a stark reminder of the fragility of life. Having lost a loved one to a similar incident years ago, I understand the pain that comes with such sudden loss.
TikToker Caleb Graves’ final posts were a haunting foreshadowing.
Following him successfully finishing Disneyland’s September 8 half-marathon during a triple-digit heatwave in California, this dedicated runner ultimately succumbed and was later confirmed deceased. Now, fans are revisiting his final video where he addressed the extreme temperatures affecting his run.
Tomorrow marks the Disneyland Half Marathon, also known as the Halloween Half Marathon, and Graves expressed a slight concern in a video posted on September 7, one day before his passing. He mentioned that he stepped outside at around 2:00 PM, which is typically the warmest part of the day, and it was approximately 90 degrees outside.
Bobby Graves, often known as Caleb on the internet, shared his latest, concerning encounters with intense heat during workouts.
He confessed in the video that he might be sensitive to heat, whether it’s a short-term or permanent issue isn’t clear. He mentioned that he was walking his dog outside for about 20 minutes when it was hot, but he felt okay initially. However, roughly 10 minutes later after returning indoors, he fainted.
He added, “I suddenly dozed off – I had no power over my body. It seemed to be due to heat exhaustion; it’s occurred just once in my past. Frankly, I’m uncertain about what’s happening, but I sincerely hope I can finish the race in the morning.
Later on, Graves once more advised his followers about the scorching temperatures, accompanied by the message, “Keep yourself hydrated and pay attention to your body’s signals. Best of luck to all the runners!
Sadly, just moments after completing the half-marathon, he tragically fell unconscious, as verified by Anaheim Police Sergeant Matt Sutter to People magazine. Later, at a local hospital where he received immediate medical attention, he was sadly pronounced deceased.
At the break of dawn, precisely 5 a.m., the race commenced according to the sergeant’s briefing to me, a lifestyle expert. Incredibly, Caleb sprinted through the 13-mile course in less than two hours, reaching the finish line around 7 a.m. As soon as he breached the finish line, he started clutching his chest. One of the workers swiftly noticed this and rushed to his side just in time, preventing him from collapsing.
Medical professionals determined that Caleb suffered a heart attack, as Sutter explained further. They swiftly administered lifesaving treatments and promptly rushed him to the nearest hospital.
“They worked on him for an hour” he continued, “but he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”
According to Sutter, it’s the Orange County Coroner’s Office who will perform the autopsy. However, he cautioned that the results might not be available for several weeks or even months.
Sutter pointed out that some cardiac incidents might occur among participants during such a large-scale race, but fatalities are uncommon.
