Tim Gunn is making it work without Project Runway.
Despite the fact that Heidi Klum, his longtime friend and collaborator, is coming back to host the 21st season of the fashion design competition following almost a decade of absence, the 71-year-old stated that he wasn’t chosen for the casting.
Heidi proposed to Tim in a text message: “There are discussions about reviving ‘Project Runway’, with you and me involved. Would you be interested?” This idea was shared during an interview by Tim with People magazine on February 14th, and his response was, “Absolutely, there’s no second thought needed from my end.
Although he expressed his enthusiasm, the fashion expert admitted he hadn’t been extended an invitation by the show’s producers. He became aware that the production, scheduled for broadcast on Freeform, Disney+, and Hulu, was progressing without him when Heidi contacted him several months down the line.
Tim remembered saying, “She texted me wondering if I was satisfied with the contract, but honestly, I hadn’t even looked at one yet.” This recalls his 16-season stint as co-host on Project Runway from 2004 to 2017 alongside Heidi.
I picked up the phone and reached out to my representative, who was already in the know about some behind-the-scenes action. He made a call to the show’s executive producers, but their response was disappointing: ‘We’ve decided not to include him.’
Tim shared that his representative had attempted to persuade the show’s producers using the argument that he and Heidi had jointly won an Emmy for hosting in 2013. However, it was reportedly only suggested that he appear in a minor role in the first episode of the upcoming season at best.
Tim joked, “Am I supposed to wave goodbye from a bus? Not quite that, I’m afraid.” Instead, Heidi visits me at the retirement home, and we enjoy a game of croquet. No, thank you, for now. And just like Heidi puts it, “It’s either all in or nothing at all.
He added, “And I’m out. So, I wasn’t asked to join.”
TopMob News has reached out to Project Runway, Disney and Heidi for comment but hasn’t heard back.
Tim, who originally felt both crushed and embarrassed by the supposed slight, has since turned the experience into an opportunity for reflection. He’s grateful for the numerous experiences he’s had over the past two decades.
He remarked, “I put an end to my tears.” “Now, I’ve accepted the situation. Of course, I feel let down, but what upsets me most is no longer collaborating with Heidi. However, we must keep going, and as they say, everything happens for a reason.
If anything, it’s also shown him just how strong of a bond he shares with Heidi, 51.
The fashion mentor repeated, “She was deeply concerned and repeatedly expressed, ‘I’m battling for you, I’m battling for you,'” to which she responded. It was heartwarming yet unsurprising. And she replied, “Heidi, focus on taking care of yourself. Don’t fret about me. I’ll manage just fine.
Tim, who co-hosted three seasons of Amazon Video’s “Making the Cut” alongside Heidi following his departure from “Project Runway” in 2017, stated, “I stand by her and am with her in spirit forever.

Even though Tim initially felt both devastated and humiliated after the reported snub, the former participant of Under the Gunn is now viewing it as an opportunity for self-reflection, appreciating “how fortunate I am to have had the experiences I’ve gained over the past two decades.
He observed that he had ceased crying over it. He has accepted the situation now. Of course, I’m disheartened, but what hurts the most is no longer being able to collaborate with Heidi. However, we must keep moving forward, and as they say, everything happens for a reason.
If anything, it’s also shown him just how strong of a bond he shares with Heidi, 51.
The fashion advisor repeated, “‘She was deeply concerned and continuously expressed, ‘I’m advocating for you, I’m advocating for you,”” instead shows her genuine concern, which I appreciate but not something to be surprised about. In response, I told her, “Heidi, please prioritize your own well-being. Don’t fret about me. I’m going to be alright.
Tim, who teamed up for three seasons on Amazon Video’s Making the Cut following his departure from Project Runway in 2017, remarked, “I stand by her and my support for her is unwavering.

We’ll always cherish the remarkable finale show of Jay McCarroll, where every autumn-inspired outfit harmoniously matched a set of headphones. Remarkably, although he hadn’t won any challenges before, he was undeniably deserving of the victory.
I’ve become utterly captivated and immersed myself in the world of this incredible figure. I launched my own blog to share my passion and it quickly garnered attention, even earning a spot in the limelight with a documentary and a feature film. To top it off, I was fortunate enough to have a product line endorsed by the Humane Society – an honor that truly reflects my commitment to their cause.
Most recently, he worked in the wardrobe department of te HBO limited series Mare of Easttown.
In a memorable season of ‘Project Runway’, it was Chloe Dao who triumphed over both Santino Rice and Daniel Vosovic. Despite many backing Daniel, it’s hard to refute that Chloe truly earned her victory.
In 2013, she became a judge on the Vietnam version of Project Runway.
Many spectators weren’t overjoyed when Jeffrey emerged victorious, given that he was portrayed as a villain throughout the entire season, causing tears among mothers and leaving viewers to doubt his judgment each time they noticed his neck tattoo.
Having faced my fair share of setbacks with businesses and fashion ventures, including a memorable run on “Project Runway: All Stars,” I’ve found my niche and am thriving in the world of children’s clothing design.
I can’t help but gush about Christian, the undisputed champion of season four who has truly reigned supreme ever since! His label has become a go-to for some of the biggest names in Hollywood—from Taylor Swift to Leslie Jones and even Michelle Obama herself! To top it off, he’s graced the judging panel on Project Runway Junior and served as a mentor on Project Runway during Tim Gunn’s departure in 2017. Simply put, Christian is an icon in the fashion world, and I can’t get enough of his unparalleled success!
Chances are even if you don’t know Project Runway, you know the Christian Siriano label.
Leanne Marshall was renowned for skillfully adding feminine wavy elements to her designs, and her final show perfectly embodied this style.
Well, I simply can’t get enough of how she infuses a unique femininity into every piece she designs, yet it’s her stunning bridal gowns that truly captivate me.
The final collection of the designer from Georgia, inspired by armor, was incredibly bold and tough, although she didn’t come across as particularly charming during her television stint.

The television personality has gained recognition for his eco-friendly design creations, also including footwear manufactured using 3D printing technology.
Without a doubt, “Project Runway” hasn’t been able to shake off our resentment for choosing Gretchen, the unexciting antagonist, over the talented and charismatic Mondo Guerra in season 8. Even though Mondo later triumphed in the first season of “All Stars,” we haven’t let go of our anger yet.
As of 2018, Gretchen graduated from the London College of Fashion with an MBA.
Despite Anya’s limited sewing abilities, she was a crowd favorite right from the start, which made it hardly surprising when she emerged victorious. Although some might argue that the judges’ decision wasn’t entirely fair given her work compared to her competitors’, it’s important to note that the debate essentially boils down to whether Project Runway is primarily a sewing competition or a design competition.
Anyway, Anya is still designing. In 2019, she competed in Season 7 of Project Runway: All Stars.
Born in Belarus, this designer was victorious in seasons 10 of ‘Project Runway’ and 4 of ‘All Stars’. However, truth be told, what stands out most about him is his distinctive accent rather than his design work.
Currently, his designs are so captivating that we nearly can’t wait to see what he posts next on Instagram. In the year 2019, he received the accolade of Fashion Designer Of The Year from the Metropolitan Fashion Awards held in Los Angeles.

It could hardly be surpassed in our joy when Sean designed that rainbow dress for the rain-soaked runway, transforming from a pristine white into a vibrant spectrum as the raindrops fell upon it. That stunning creation would have earned him the victory solely on its own merit.
He returned for another chance at a title on season seven of All Stars, but came in seventh place.
Ashley’s victory was remarkable due to her decision to feature only plus-size models, using the occasion to showcase adorable, stylish, practical clothing designed specifically for plus-sized women. Beyond teaming up with JCPenney, she reintroduced a collection of roller skates as well.
Moving from fashion to…pickleball? Indeed! Following her victory on Project Runway, the Utah native went on to establish Pickle Pop, a company specializing in pickleball facilities based in Los Angeles. However, fear not, as she’s also keeping up with her design work, crafting coats from vintage quilts.
