Tina Tina’s Wonderlands Sequel Reportedly Delayed Indefinitely

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the news about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands sequel has left me a tad disheartened. The original was a rollercoaster ride of humor, action, and magic that I thoroughly enjoyed, and the prospect of delving back into Tina’s whimsical world was genuinely exciting.

It seems the highly popular game Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands by Gearbox Software had an impressive debut, making a follow-up title a logical step. However, according to recent updates, the as-yet unannounced sequel might have been postponed indefinitely or even cancelled. Instead, the team is focusing on wrapping up development for Borderlands 4, diverting their resources towards that project.

1st MP reports, drawing on internal Gearbox sources, that the upcoming Tina sequel has been scrapped in recent times. The publication presents a compelling argument, examining LinkedIn and ArtStation posts, stating that the game underwent a soft reboot after Gearbox was acquired by Take-Two. This acquisition allowed Gearbox to break free from Embracer Group’s control earlier in 2024 and be purchased at a low cost.

Indeed, the industry often follows its current path. Notably, Lost Boys Interactive (a subsidiary of Gearbox), known for creating Tina Tina, has faced two significant rounds of job cuts this year. Given that Gearbox is emphasizing Borderlands 4 as their most ambitious project to date, it’s possible that the development of another Wonderlands game might be temporarily delayed.
