Tina Turner’s lost song from Private Dancer is rediscovered and set to be released

Forty years after it was believed to be lost, a long-lost song once sung by the legendary Tina Turner has been found and is now ready for release.

Hot For You Baby was initially produced at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, with the plan to include it as a track on Tina Turner’s fifth solo album, titled Private Dancer.

However, it didn’t end up on the final album as other popular tracks like “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “Better Be Good to Me,” and the album’s main song were chosen instead.

On Thursday morning, the brand new, previously unreleased tune made its debut on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, hosted by Mark Goodier. (January 23rd)

Originally penned by Australian musicians George Young and Harry Vanda, with production credits to John Carter, “Hot For You Baby” was a song that didn’t initially gain much attention when it was first recorded by Scottish-Australian singer John Paul Young in 1979. However, his rendition failed to make significant waves upon its initial release.

Goodier, who’s at present managing the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, commented about the fresh tune saying, “It’s a delight for followers across generations to listen to something new from Tina Turner. It serves as a refresher of her extraordinary ability.

He went on to say: “It was fortunate for me to have had the chance not only to interview Tina but also to watch her perform live. She was an exceptionally talented entertainer and yet, at the same time, a truly elegant woman. Each of her notes seemed to bear the mark of her extraordinary life experiences.

On the 21st of March, 2025, ‘Hot For You Baby’ is set to be unveiled, marking a special 40th anniversary reissue of ‘Private Dancer’.”

This version maintains the original meaning while sounding more formal and easy to understand.

This limited version comes packed with exclusive, unheard songs, live concerts, and video content. You can grab it in the form of CDs, vinyl records, or Blu-ray discs.
