Titanfall 3 Cancelled: Respawn’s Latest Blow to Fans

It’s been announced that a fresh installment of Titanfall is allegedly scrapped, leaving many enthusiasts disheartened. Electronic Arts (EA), a leading player in the gaming world due to powerhouses like Battlefield, Mass Effect, Need for Speed, and the entire EA Sports series, might be the publisher behind this decision. EA has expanded significantly over time and even held the exclusive rights to publish AAA Star Wars games at one point. Respawn Entertainment, a highly esteemed studio under EA, has contributed to some of the top-tier Star Wars games and also manages Apex Legends, a widely played battle royale game set within the Titanfall universe.

Regrettably, enthusiasts are yearning for a new installment in the Titanfall series, specifically Titanfall 3. Despite the fact that Apex Legends shares its universe with the franchise, it offers a distinctly different gaming experience. Fans long to traverse walls, pilot massive battle mechs, and revisit the world from a pilot’s perspective again. Unfortunately, the anticipation for Titanfall 3 appears to have been overstated once more, as Respawn Entertainment seems to be postponing yet another Titanfall game.

New Titanfall Game Cancelled

According to Bloomberg’s report, Respawn Entertainment has decided not to proceed with a new game in the Titanfall series, temporarily codenamed R7. Although this game wasn’t officially named Titanfall 3, it would have been an action-packed shooter game set within the sci-fi universe of Titanfall. It remains uncertain whether it would have included the iconic titans or leaned more towards the style of Apex Legends.

According to Bloomberg, the game being developed by Respawn Entertainment was still in its initial stages, far from ready for release. This revelation comes shortly after Respawn announced layoffs and stated that they had scrapped two projects in the early development phase. Details about the second project are scarce, but Bloomberg confirms it was shelved earlier this year. Unfortunately, this news appears to be another setback for the studio, suggesting that a new Titanfall may not be forthcoming soon.

Previously, it was announced that both Titanfall 3 and a different Titanfall spin-off game were scrapped by Respawn Entertainment. Although there has been speculation about the possibility of Titanfall 3 in the future, it appears unlikely to happen for quite some time. For now, it seems Respawn is focusing on developing Apex Legends and Star Wars games.
