The popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) series continues to thrive, ready to unveil several fresh, action-packed tales in the near future.
Previously, this franchise had its big screen premiere in August 2023 with one of the year’s most eagerly awaited films, “TMNT: Mutant Mayhem.” This animated movie raked in over $180 million at the box office on a production budget of $70 million. To this day, it maintains a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes among critics’ reviews.
Moving forward into 2025 and beyond, it appears that Paramount has a lot of exciting projects in store for Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and their team.
(In this case, “Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael” are characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2
After the hit movie, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, there was much buzz about a possible sequel from both fans and industry professionals.
In a few months, The Wrap verified that Paramount was indeed moving forward with the production of “TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2”. This follow-up has now been officially confirmed for release in theaters on October 9, 2026, which is approximately three and a half years after its initial installment.
At this moment, neither the cast nor the crew have been officially announced. However, it’s anticipated that many, if not all, of the primary voice actors will return for another round.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 2
Paramount, through Nick Alive, announced that the animated series titled “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” has been given a green light for a second season in early January. Originally designed for a younger audience, this show quickly became one of Nickelodeon’s most popular titles when it premiered in 2024.
As a diehard cinema enthusiast, I must say this series is an exciting continuation from the chaos of Mutant Mayhem, with the original cast gracing our screens once more. It serves as a thrilling link between the initial movie and its upcoming sequel, all while delving into the daily struggles and heroic adventures of our beloved turtles as they juggle their teenage lives and the escalating perils in New York City.
Season 2 is expected to debut on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon sometime in 2025.
Villain Spin-off Movies
By Deadline in February 2022, it was confirmed that Paramount+ would produce several unique movies based on the famous Ninja Turtles villains from the TMNT series. Although the specific villains haven’t been disclosed yet, they will be characters that have not appeared in such a grand scale before.
These movies do not yet have a specific release or development timeframe.
The Last Ronin
It’s been confirmed that the upcoming TMNT project, titled “The Last Ronin,” is expected to be brought to life using live-action. This news was reported by The Hollywood Reporter in April 2024. The script will be written by Tyler Burton Smith, who penned the 2019 Chucky movie. Walter Hamada, a former Warner Bros. executive and founder of 18hz production company, will produce the project.
This property stands out as a rare, R-rated take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), unlike any other Ninja Turtle narratives seen before.
In this tale, we witness a chilling dystopian New York City ruled by a totalitarian regime. The beloved characters, the Turtles, and their mentor Splinter are systematically hunted down and eliminated, one after another, by the grandson of the malevolent Shredder and his army of artificial ninjas. However, one resilient Turtle manages to escape this carnage, swearing vengeance against the murderer who took away his family.
In the initial comics, there’s an enigma surrounding the lone living Turtle since it wasn’t unveiled for quite some time which of them managed to survive.
This new movie does not have a production or release timeframe.
Untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie
According to another report by Deadline, it’s officially confirmed that Paramount Pictures will produce a new, as-yet-unnamed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.
It appears that according to reports, Colin Jost, who is a writer and host for Saturday Night Live, along with his brother Casey Jost (known for producing shows like Impractical Jokers), are set to work on the script. Additionally, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick, and Galen Walker have also been named as producers for this project.
As is the case with the previously-mentioned new project, plot details are being kept under wraps.
