TNA's Trey Miguel Helps Zachary Wentz Secure WWE NXT No Mercy Victory

As a long-time fan who has witnessed the highs and lows of both WWE and TNA, I must say that the rivalry between Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz at NXT No Mercy was nothing short of electrifying! Their personal feud, stemming from their former tag team partnership, has evolved into a battle for supremacy.

At the NXT No Mercy event last Sunday evening, WWE stars Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz settled their ongoing rivalry (for now). Their partnership in WWE and TNA, which has seen numerous crossovers over the past few months, was rekindled. However, things took a turn when Lee betrayed his friend, stating that they operate on “different levels” and he considers himself the more prominent star. They had been a tag team for nearly a decade, but unfortunately, Wentz’s past issues led to his contract termination in 2022 within the WWE. Prior to this, they managed to become two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

After his team disbanded, Lee had to adapt and it ultimately paid off as he went on to become the longest-reigning NXT North American Champion. Since then, he’s been striving to regain his past success. He reunited with Trey Miguel in TNA, forming The Rascalz, and they’ve been causing quite a stir in the tag team division. They even won the TNA Tag Titles last summer. Wentz aims to show that he’s changed since his days in WWE. Notably, just before NXT PLE, Wentz claimed the X-Division Championship, entering as a champion himself.

What a moment! ?

The contest between them was as intense as predicted, each putting their best efforts forward. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when Lee gained an advantage towards the end of the match, picking up a steel chair with the intention of ending his opponent’s career permanently. Miguel intervened, snatching the chair from Lee, giving Wentz the opportunity to recuperate and catch Lee off guard with a Canadian Destroyer. Wentz ultimately clinched the victory with a UFO and Springboard Rolling Stunner, but it appears their rivalry is far from over. With Lee recently switching allegiances to become a villain, this was his first defeat at the hands of his former close friend. It certainly seems that there’s room for this feud to escalate, possibly spilling over into TNA, given how deeply personal things have become between them.

The upcoming PLE (Pay-Per-View Event) by TNA, titled “Victory Road,” is scheduled for September 13th in San Antonio, Texas. This event will be broadcast live on the TNA+ app. At present, only one match has been confirmed: Nic Nemeth defending his TNA World Championship against former champion Moose. This bout was prompted by Moose’s recent tough defense against Josh Alexander, where he accepted the challenge. Additionally, there will be a series of tapings for television the following day, which is popular among NXT talent as a chance to make an appearance.
