Clear River Games is set to debut the recently unveiled Toaplan Arcade Collection Volumes 1 and 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on August 14 in the western world, as per the latest announcements. Additionally, physical versions will be offered exclusively for PlayStation 5.
In Japan, neither of the two releases are scheduled before August 28th; however, you’ll be able to purchase both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions in a physical format come that date.
Here is an overview of the collections, via Clear River Games:
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but be thrilled about the work being done by Toaplan, a legendary developer renowned for their timeless arcade games from the ’80s and ’90s. The dedicated team at Tatsujin in Tokyo has been relentlessly striving to ensure that both retro game enthusiasts and newcomers can continue to savor their iconic legacy. Their efforts include not just the Japanese versions, but also international variations with distinct specifications, making it possible for us gamers to get our hands on rare titles that were scarcely accessible in Japan.
Moreover, the expertise of Bitwave Games, a Swedish team of modern retro game veterans who excel at melding classic game design with all the contemporary features we love, has been instrumental in keeping the games’ roots authentic yet brimming with 21st-century charm.
