Todd and Julie Chrisley Set to Be Pardoned by Trump: A Family’s Hope for Freedom!

Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley are one step closer to regaining their freedom.

On May 27, President Donald Trump unveiled his intention to grant clemency to a pair who are currently incarcerated due to tax evasion and bank fraud charges.

I had a conversation with my children Savannah and Grayson, and in that chat, I expressed, “Tomorrow, your folks will be liberated from whatever they’re tied up with and I truly hope we can manage it. Is that alright with you? We’ll make an effort to get it done tomorrow.

After receiving the news, Grayson, 19, became emotional as he expressed his gratitude for the move.

“Mr. President,” he said, “I just want to say thank you for bringing my parents back.”

Previously this year, Savannah (the individual who addressed the Republican National Convention in July) disclosed her efforts to obtain a presidential pardon for her parents, who firmly insist upon their innocence regarding the ongoing case.

The young individual stated in February to People that they are following the correct procedures and will strive to draw attention to the issue since such events should never occur.

In August 2019, a federal grand jury in Atlanta indicted Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley on 12 charges, which included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and conspiring to defraud the United States. As reported by NBC News, the alleged crimes began in the mid-2000s and involved various acts such as evading nearly $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016, and concealing over $1 million from the IRS.

A day prior to the issuance of the indictment, Todd asserted that he and his spouse were blameless, alleging instead that a loyal employee was embezzling funds and extorting them.

He declared in an Instagram post that there is no secret or shameful act on our part. In fact, not only are we certain that we haven’t done anything wrong, but we also have substantial proof and numerous supporting witnesses to back up this claim.

Three years passed before the stars of Chrisley Knows Best found themselves standing trial. Over the course of three weeks, numerous testimonies were given. Initially maintaining their innocence, they were found guilty on all charges related to tax evasion and bank fraud on June 7, 2022.

The United States Attorney’s Office claimed that the pair, along with their accountant Peter Tarantino (who was tried alongside them), were involved in a scheme to deceive banks out of approximately $30 million across ten years.

In Keri Farley’s June 2022 statement as Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, she emphasized a crucial lesson: fame, wealth, or status can’t shield you from the consequences of dishonesty, deceit, and theft. In other words, justice remains impartial, regardless of your standing. Her assertion was further underscored by the guilty verdict on all counts for these three defendants, serving as a reminder that unscrupulous financial activities do not lead to prosperity but ultimately result in punishment.

After a span of five months, the Northern District of Georgia passed a sentence on Todd, imprisoning him for twelve years, while Julie was given a seven-year sentence. Meanwhile, Peter received a three-year prison term.

For over a decade, I, as a lifestyle expert, have witnessed how these individuals systematically defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars. In addition, they deliberately evaded paying their federal income taxes during this period. In a statement issued in November 2022, U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan made it clear that their actions were criminal and not to be taken lightly. The lengthy sentences handed down to them underscore the severity of their scheme and should act as a stern warning to anyone considering abusing our nation’s community banking system for illicit personal profit.

In September 2023, the sentences for both Julie and Todd were adjusted; Julie was set to be freed a year and a half ahead of schedule in 2024, while Todd’s release date was moved forward by two years, now slated for 2033 instead of 2035.

Jay Surgent, their lawyer, stated to Insider in September 2023 that there’s no question about it: Todd and Julie are exemplary inmates who were given unusually long sentences. He added that Todd’s sentence has been reduced to ten years, while Julie is currently serving a five-year term.

2023 saw me begin my incarceration journey alongside the pair I adore most – Todd and Julie – as we commenced our sentences in January of that year. Todd found himself at Federal Correctional Institution (FPI) Pensacola in Florida, while Julie was assigned to a federal prison in Lexington, Kentucky. My heart remains with them, even though miles separate us.

Approximately half a year following the incarceration of Julie and Todd, Savannah Chrisley disclosed some information about her parents’ well-being. She mentioned that, while in prison, they were unable to communicate or make contact with each other.

She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.

She found it amusing since one of them remarked, “He’s let himself go,” according to her on the Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast. However, if I could speak to him now, I would say, “Keep it up!” His new look suits him well; he has a fantastic prison barber.

Yet, Todd voiced his concerns about the mistreatment he experienced at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, even though he was confined within prison bars.

He stated during a call on Cuomo’s show in December 2023 that the food was beyond its expiration date, being a year overdue,” or more casually, “He mentioned on Cuomo’s show in December 2023 that the food was a year past its sell-by date.

I’m sharing this unfortunate incident I encountered at our storage facility. It turns out we have unwelcome guests – rats and squirrels! They managed to gain access to our food storage area, hidden beneath some plastic sheets. The ceiling, weakened by black mold, was no match for their destructive tendencies. As a result, the ceiling gave way, revealing a grim sight: a deceased cat that had become trapped and eventually fell onto our supplies.

In the midst of the unsettling events unfolding in the communal dining area, I found myself confronted with an additional, deeply concerning situation: an attempt was made to coerce my loved ones into a questionable arrangement.

He mentioned that a photo of him sleeping was taken and sent to his daughter, and in the message, he asked for $2,600 per month as payment for his protection.

Savannah, currently taking care of her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe due to her parents’ incarceration, shared that the consequences of her parents’ legal issues and the distance between them have been a heavy burden for her.

In an interview with TopMob News in March 2024, she disclosed that their last conversation was the morning they were both taken to federal prison. She also claimed that her father has been facing a significant amount of retaliation due to our vocal criticism of the prison conditions.

To clarify, she claimed that the prison authorities were hindering much of the email communication between him and her mother.

Although trying to keep the focus on others, she acknowledged that occasionally, it became too much for her to handle.

On her podcast “Unlocked” in April 2024, Savannah expressed her struggle with the sensation that Mom and Dad are being left behind as life keeps moving forward. Similarly, she experiences this sensation with certain people in her own life, as if they carry on living their lives without a thought for those who have been left behind.

She went on saying, “I’m still here, gasping for air, dealing with various challenges. It could be about finances and raising children, or managing a relationship.

In June 2024, Julie’s seven-year prison term was reversed by a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. While they upheld her convictions, the court found that the judge in her 2022 trial had erred in calculating the sentence for the reality star.

In their decision, the judges explained that the district court did not clearly indicate the evidence it used to convict Julie for losses prior to 2007. As a result, they couldn’t locate this evidence in the records themselves. Therefore, they have decided to overturn Julie’s sentence and send the case back to the district court. The district court is now required to make the necessary factual determinations regarding the loss, restitution, forfeiture, and sentencing for Julie, and then issue a new sentence accordingly.

The decision regarding the modification of her sentence was delegated to a lower court, whereas Todd’s sentence remained unchanged.

Three months following the annulment of her prison term, the court in Atlanta eventually confirmed Julie’s initial seven-year prison sentence. In a heartfelt show of remorse, she apologized, not only to the court but also to her children.

In court, as reported by People on September 25th, Julie expressed, “Over a significant amount of time, I’ve contemplated my words, and I want to express regret for my behavior and the circumstances it has brought us to.” She added, “I spent 20 months in prison, but the true reckoning began much earlier. I offer my sincere apologies for the actions that led us to where we stand today.

She’s made every possible effort to reconnect with her family. She’s even learned new skills like operating a forklift and serving food properly. This phase of her life has been incredibly challenging. She can never fully repay her children for the hardships they’ve endured, and for that, she expresses her deepest regret.
