As a seasoned gamer with a knack for indie games and a soft spot for heartwarming adventures, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation upon hearing about TOEM 2. The original game was a delightful blend of photography, exploration, and whimsy that left me with a lasting impression. So, the news of its sequel is like finding a long-lost friend who’s coming back for another adventure!
In 2023, TOEM stood out as one of the most imaginative and exceptional independent games to debut. However, it’s apparent that developer Something We Made has even more innovative concepts they wish to unveil. Recently, they announced the upcoming sequel, TOEM 2, with a short teaser trailer giving us a sneak peek at what’s coming. Take a look below.
In “TOEM 2”, players will set off on another captivating photographic journey, similar to its first version. Just like before, it will feature an aesthetically pleasing monochromatic art style, as hinted at in the teaser trailer. At this point, specific details are scarce, but it’s clear that fans of the original can anticipate a recurring adventure with familiar elements.
As a passionate fan, I can’t hide my excitement – and a touch of apprehension – about diving back into something so close to ours and many others’ hearts: TOEM 2. Yet, the best news is that our original team, including our talented composers, has reunited! To add to this, we’ve brought in some new faces, who, though fresh, have a familiarity with our project that brings a burst of energy while maintaining the essence that makes TOEM unique. With renewed vigor, we’re working tirelessly to create an exceptional sequel that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the original game, honoring its successes and enhancing its shortcomings. This is no easy task, but we’re giving it our all!
The sequel to TOEM, titled TOEM 2, is not expected until 2026. At that time, it will be accessible on both PC and gaming consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo’s upcoming next-generation platform. Currently, the specifics regarding which console it will appear on have not been disclosed.
