To mark the fifth year anniversary of the Tokyo Revengers anime, it’s been confirmed that the time-traveling saga will resurface with its gangs returning. Liden Films has announced a new season titled “Tokyo Revengers: War of The Three Deities“, promising another journey into the world of Hanagaki Takemichi, who leaps back in time to rectify a troubled present. Although a release date for this upcoming installment of the popular anime series hasn’t been set, the studio responsible for the show has offered some insights into what lies ahead for Tokyo Revengers.
In the upcoming season of the anime, a significant shift will occur as a new director takes charge. Previously, Koichi Hatsumi was at the helm, having contributed to popular series like Berserk, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Paranoia Agent, and Hunter x Hunter. This time around, Maki Kodaira steps into the director’s role for the Three Deities Arc. Kodaira has previously worked on anime franchises such as Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Pokemon, The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of The Apocalypse, and Shenmue The Animation.
What Is The War of The Three Deities Arc?
The confrontation between Tokyo Manji Gang and Tenjiku culminated in a devastating conclusion. Each character, grappling with their loss, moves forward. Yet, Takemichi Hanagaki (Takemichi) is struck by the demise of Kisaki Tetta. On the other hand, Sano Manjiro (Mikey), privy to the time-travel story, makes a decisive choice following the battle. Leaving his past behind, Takemichi steps into a future where his beloved, Hinata Tachibana, is still alive. However, he cannot find her in this world that has entered the “Three Heavens Era”, a time when three groups compete for dominance. The final act of revenge commences here.
As I stand here, I reflect on the conclusion of Ken Wakui’s captivating “Tokyo Revengers” manga series, which wrapped up in 2022 after thirty-one volumes. The Three Deities Arc served as a prelude to the climactic Kanto Manji Arc, marking the penultimate storyline. Though Liden Films remains tight-lipped about another season for the anime adaptation, it appears likely that this engrossing tale will reach its conclusion, guiding Hanagaki’s Takemichi through his unconventional journey to its finish line.
