Tokyo Revengers: War of The Three Deities Promises Epic Revenge

To mark the fifth year anniversary of the Tokyo Revengers anime, it’s been announced that the time-traveling story will return with a fresh season. Entitled “Tokyo Revengers: War of The Three Deities,” this new installment from studio Liden Films will take us once more into the world of Hanagaki Takemichi, as he continues his mission to rectify a troubled present by time-traveling back in time. A release date for this upcoming chapter of the popular anime adaptation is yet to be unveiled, but the team behind Tokyo Revengers has offered some insights into what’s in store for us in the future.

This upcoming season, the most significant alteration in the anime adaptation will be a change in the director’s position. Previously, Koichi Hatsumi, who has worked on popular series like Berserk, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Paranoia Agent, and Hunter x Hunter, was at the helm. However, for the Three Deities Arc, Maki Kodaira will be stepping into the director’s role. This new director has a background in anime franchises such as Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Pokemon, The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of The Apocalypse, and Shenmue The Animation.

What Is The War of The Three Deities Arc?

The feud between Tokyo Manji Gang and Tenjiku concluded tragically. As they all continue down their new paths burdened by grief, Hanagaki Takemichi (Takemichi) is astonished by Kisaki Tetta’s demise. Meanwhile, Sano Manjiro (Mikey), having learned about the time leap, makes a significant choice post-battle. Leaving his troubled past behind, Takemichi reaches a future where his beloved Hinata Tachibana is alive. However, she appears to be missing from this world that has progressed into the “Three Heavens Era,” a period marked by fierce competition among three dominant groups. The final act of revenge commences here.

The original manga series of Tokyo Revengers by author Ken Wakui concluded in 2022, having published thirty-one volumes. In the written narrative, the storyline known as the Three Deities Arc served as a precursor to the Kanto Manji Arc, which marked the climax. Although Liden Films has not confirmed whether the anime adaptation will have another season to conclude its tale, it seems likely that the TV series will reach its end to bring Hanagaki’s Takemichi journey to an unusual close.
