As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: the dynamic duo of “Mission: Impossible” fame, Ana de Armas, and the captivating lead from “Ballerina,” have joined forces for an upcoming project. This intriguing collaboration is centered around a chilling undersea supernatural film tentatively titled “Deeper.” I can hardly wait to dive in!
According to reports, filmmaker Doug Liman is set to direct the upcoming underwater thriller “Deeper.” In this movie, an astronaut will face a mysterious and terrifying force while exploring a previously uncharted trench during a deep dive. Tom Cruise and Liman had previously collaborated on the 2014 sci-fi film “Edge of Tomorrow” and the 2017 action comedy “American Made.” The recent casting of Ana de Armas in “Deeper” has finally put an end to the long-standing speculation about her potential involvement with Cruise. Despite the pair being spotted together, it was quickly clarified that they were not romantically involved.
It’s noted that Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise are undergoing the diving training necessary for the movie “Deeper,” implying that the lead of “Ballerina” will join the star of “Mission: Impossible” in executing their own stunts within this project. Notably, “Deeper” is a film being developed at Universal which includes a space scene, collaborating with NASA and SpaceX. Intriguingly, “Deeper” has been in development for some time, as MGM initially purchased the spec script for the project way back in 2016. At this point, the estimated budget for “Deeper” is around $200 million, but a studio hasn’t been assigned yet.
Tom Cruise & Ana de Armas Both Have New Movies Coming Out This Summer
The collaboration between Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas for the film “Deeper” precedes the release of their respective leading roles in their latest movies. Specifically, Tom Cruise will once again play Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent, in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning“, which is the eighth film in the popular spy action series. In this installment, the storyline from the previous movie, 2023’s “Dead Reckoning“, continues as Ethan and his IMF team aim to thwart the plans of the villainous Gabriel (Esai Morales), who seeks to acquire an advanced AI program called “the Entity”.
In addition to Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Pom Klementieff, and Angela Bassett, the cast of “The Final Reckoning” includes these stars reprising their roles from the franchise: Grace (played by Atwell), Luther Stickell (Rhames), Benji Dunn (Pegg), Eugene Kittridge (Czerny), Paris (Klementieff), and Erika Sloane (Bassett). The upcoming “Mission: Impossible” sequel is projected to earn over $70 million during its opening weekend.
In terms of de Armas, she stars as the lead character in the movie titled “Ballerina,” where she portrays Eve Macarro, a ballerina-assassin seeking vengeance following her father’s death. This film takes place alongside the events of 2019’s “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” As a result, Ian McShane, Keanu Reeves, and Lance Reddick reappear in their beloved roles as Winston, John Wick, and Charon from the franchise, even though the latter two characters died in “John Wick: Chapter 4” (2023).
Here are the release dates for two upcoming action-packed movies: “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” hits theaters on May 23rd, and “John Wick spin-off: Ballerina” follows suit on June 6th.
