This individual is globally recognized as one of the leading film stars, with numerous of his productions achieving box office hits or acquiring classic status among audiences. Yet, beyond his own stardom, he is an ardent cinema enthusiast who consistently expresses admiration towards other movies.
Just now, Cruise expressed his approval for two highly-anticipated movies: the one featuring Michael B. Jordan, and the ballet film titled Ballerina. His admiration for cinema doesn’t stop there; he recently praised another widely-acclaimed production. In a fresh interview with director Takashi Yamazaki through Paramount, Cruise declared that his Godzilla Minus One is an “ideal” monster movie.
This version aims to be more concise and easier to read while retaining the original’s meaning.
An unexpected collaboration took place during Cruise’s promotion of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, alongside director Christopher McQuarrie and Takashi Yamazaki. In the course of their discussion, McQuarrie commended the film Godzilla Minus One, expressing his appreciation for its “strikingly beautiful” and “distinctly human” qualities.
Tom Cruise additionally expressed his personal views about the movie, complimenting it as “fantastic, flawless” and praising the director by saying, “You have revolutionized the genre.” Furthermore, he acknowledged himself as a fan of the filmmaker, mentioning that they kept him engaged for hours, and expressed admiration by stating that they are an “outstanding filmmaker, masterful storyteller.
Additionally, the pair delved into refining their work, since the director revealed he crafted the script following the viewing of the latest Mission: Impossible movie. As Cruise expressed, they mutually inspire one another, and this was evident as they both did so after watching Godzilla Minus One.
Godzilla Minus One Received Universal Praise
As a die-hard movie enthusiast who can’t get enough of the big screen behemoths, I’ve been captivated by the legendary Godzilla franchise since its inception back in 1954. Over the years, this series has spawned an impressive 38 films, with a whopping 33 of them hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun. Among these Japanese productions, “Godzilla Minus One” stands tall as the fan favorite and box office champion. Interestingly enough, it’s also the only film in the entire franchise to receive an Oscar.
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share my thoughts on the intriguing title “Godzilla Minus One.” This captivating story is set in post-war Japan and delves into the life of a former kamikaze pilot, haunted by PTSD following an encounter with a colossal beast – none other than the legendary “Godzilla.” Unlike traditional Godzilla tales, this film explores more than just the battle against the Titan. Instead, it provides deeper character development and delves into the profound effects of war and the devastation wrought by the monster’s rampage. The stellar cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki.
Following the tremendous success of Shin Godzilla in 2016, I was thrilled to see that Godzilla Minus One surpassed it in popularity. This film continues to garner near-flawless ratings from both critics and audiences, boasting an impressive 99% approval from the former and a remarkable 98% from the latter. Notably, it has earned the prestigious Rotten Tomatoes badges, Certified Fresh and Verified Hot. To top it all off, it received an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects, making its reception truly exhilarating!
Regarding its performance, the movie titled “Godzilla Minus One” proved itself once more. Made with a budget of just $15 million, it eventually earned an impressive $105 million globally, surpassing its initial investment by a factor of seven. (Source: Box Office Mojo)
You can currently stream “Godzilla Minus One” on Netflix, whereas “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” is showing in cinemas.
