Tom Cruise Reveals the Shocking Movie Genre He Still Wants to Try!

Tom Cruise has shared that there’s an intriguing movie genre he‘s yet to explore in his acting career. With an impressive repertoire spanning from timeless hits such as “Days of Thunder,” “Rain Man,” and “A Few Good Men” (to mention a few), Tom Cruise has proven himself as one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood, excelling not only in serious dramas but also in war movies, summer blockbusters, and even R-rated comedies. However, he is particularly renowned for his action roles, including blockbuster franchises like Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, and the potential franchise starter “Edge of Tomorrow.” In other words, Tom Cruise’s career is incredibly diverse, as it encompasses a wide range of genres that many actors rarely venture into.

For approximately the past 15 years, Tom Cruise has predominantly concentrated on action films. He’s been collaborating intimately with directors such as Christopher McQuarrie to create some of today’s top action movies, both standalone and part of established franchises. He devotes a significant amount of time and energy into these projects, ensuring they are of high quality. It’s not just about showing up on set, following directions, and memorizing lines; he’s involved from script to post-production. As a result, he hasn’t had much spare time for ventures outside these demanding productions like Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

Tom Cruise Wants to Do a Musical

Despite speculation that Mission: Impossible might be concluding for now, Tom Cruise looks forward to new ventures in his career. During an interview at the British Film Institute (as reported by Deadline), Cruise spoke about his future aspirations, particularly focusing on what’s next. Remarking that he has an endless list of goals, Cruise expressed a desire to step into uncharted territory: musicals. It seems he hasn’t settled on a specific script yet, but the idea of singing and dancing appeals to him.

In terms closest to what Tom Cruise has attempted before, we can point out “Rock of Ages,” though it may not conform to the usual definition of a musical. Regrettably, this production didn’t fare well at the box office and garnered negative responses from both fans and critics. Interestingly, Tom Cruise has demonstrated a keen interest in music throughout his career, as evidenced by his character’s dance sequences in “Tropic Thunder” and his sharing of musical dance scenes with his stunt teams to better communicate storytelling through movement. At present, Tom Cruise is working on an untitled project with Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the director of “The Revenant,” set for release next year. Additionally, there are rumors that he will be involved in a horror movie directed by Doug Liman.

Besides this, it appears that Cruise doesn’t have any definite commitments just yet. There are whispers about a Top Gun 3, but remember, there were rumors about a second movie for years before it finally came to fruition, so it might be best to wait until you see him back in the cockpit again before taking it as fact.

What kinds of movies do you want to see Tom Cruise in going forward? Let me know in the comments.
