Tom Cruise‘s recent interview has fans’ eyes wide open.

In an unexpected move, after over two decades of silence towards the media, the 63-year-old offered a kind word or two about Nicole Kidman, making this one of his rare public comments on his former partner.

During their conversation about the 1999 erotic thriller film “Eyes Wide Shut,” Cruise reminisced that he proposed to director Stanley Kubrick the idea of casting the actress who eventually played his character Bill’s wife, Alice.

The actor mentioned that he proposed for Nicole to take up the character, as expressed in an interview with Sight and Sound magazine on May 9 (as reported by Deadline). It’s clear why he suggested her because she is undeniably a talented actress.

2003 marked the year that Nicole Kidman was awarded her first Academy Award for her outstanding portrayal in the movie “The Hours“, which came approximately two years following the conclusion of her long-standing marriage with Tom Cruise, a union that lasted over 10 years and ended through divorce.
