It’s been some time now since Top Gun: Maverick hit theaters, but it looks like Tom Cruise has been putting in a lot of effort to create a sequel that will surely delight those eagerly waiting fans.
After a long span of time, there was a gap between the original Top Gun in 1986 and its sequel in 2022. Lately, Tom Cruise has hinted that another installment is in the works, aiming to recapture the impressive box office numbers of the second film.
On Australia’s Today show, Cruise discussed various ideas and possibilities, pondering what could be done and what might be feasible.
It’s only after 35 years that I finally understood the films Top Gun: Maverick and Days of Thunder. Now, as we work on these projects, we often find ourselves reminiscing about those movies.
As a fervent enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about Tom Cruise’s recent revelation. Instead of just craving more Top Gun action, he hinted at an array of other projects in the works. In his own words, “We’ve got numerous films that we’re actively working on right now.” It seems like he’s always busy shooting a film, preparing a film, or releasing a film. I can hardly wait to see what he has in store for us next!
Recently, I completed a movie alongside director Alejandro Iñárritu, famous for The Revenant. We’re set to release it soon. Working with him was an incredible journey, and currently, Christopher McQuarrie and I are constantly brainstorming ideas for multiple films.

In the 2022 sequel film, Tom Cruise once again took on his iconic role as Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, joined by actors such as Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and many others.
Currently, it has been announced that Tom Cruise’s character will appear in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, a movie that is widely expected to be the last installment of the successful series.
Recently, the movie was screened at Cannes and received a prolonged 7.5 minute standing ovation. Critics have been commending it for its thrilling action scenes.
The use of ‘Final’ in the movie’s title suggests that it may mark the conclusion for Cruise and Mission: Impossible, yet it appears that the actor’s passion for action films is far from over.
At the Cannes Film Festival, Cruise reiterated his earlier comments about continuing his acting career into his 80s and added a bit more ambition: “Not only will I be making movies in my 80s, but I plan to keep going all the way up to my 100s.
He expressed: “I won’t ever cease. I won’t ever cease acting, creating dramas and comedies – I’m thrilled!
